Description

BeOne continues to grow at a rapid pace with challenging and exciting opportunities for experienced professionals. When considering candidates, we look for scientific and business professionals who are highly motivated, collaborative, and most importantly, share our passionate interest in fighting cancer.

This role has hybrid work pattern, 3 days per week from our Warsaw office with 2 days remote.

General Description:

We are seeking a senior finance professional to lead the European Accounting Record-to-Report (RTR) team within BeOne Medicines’ newly established Global Business Services (GBS) center in Warsaw, Poland.

This is a key leadership role for an experienced and ambitious finance professional who is motivated to help build, scale, and mature the GBS controllership function. The role will support the centralization of ex-China and ex-U.S. global accounting operations and will lead RTR activities across SAP FICO processes within BeOne’s Swiss principal structure, European entities, and New Markets geographies. The position will oversee more than 30 SAP entities and provide leadership, guidance, and operational oversight to ensure accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the GBS Poland controllership function.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic leadership, technical accounting expertise, and hands-on execution. This leader must be comfortable working directly with the team to strengthen close processes, improve controls, drive process standardization, and advance transformation initiatives across regions and entities. The role requires a proactive, analytical, and solutions-oriented leader who can build structure in a maturing, high-growth environment and establish repeatable processes that support future scale, including the potential onboarding of additional entities such as LATAM into the GBS controllership scope.

This leader will play a pivotal role in advancing the long-term functional controllership transformation strategy, including the continued centralization of controllership activities within the GBS center and the evolution of the global U.S. GAAP external audit from a primarily U.S./corporate-centered model to a more integrated shared-services model.

Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability are essential. The role will coordinate activities across regional RTR functions and partner closely with stakeholders across FP&A, Tax, Procure-to-Pay, Treasury, Legal, HR, Distribution, Technical Accounting, Internal Controls, and Corporate Controllership. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting expertise across Europe, including transfer pricing, U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting, and experience managing cross-border financial operations.

Overall, this individual will be an authentic and instrumental leader who can inspire and support a diverse team in a hybrid working model while serving as a bridge between corporate strategy and day-to-day GBS controllership execution. The successful candidate will foster an inclusive environment that values input, debate, ideation, and collaboration, while using sound judgment and practical experience to guide decision-making. This leader should demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, balance thoughtful risk assessment with action orientation, and lead by example through open dialogue, accountability, and partnership with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee RTR operations for European and New Market entities, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, International Financial Reporting Standards where applicable, and local GAAP requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, local accounting firms, and accounting outsourcing partners to manage statutory audits, tax filings, and compliance matters.
  • Partner with Legal to manage regulatory filings and statutory reporting, ensuring financial statements meet applicable local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team to review collaboration arrangements and gross-to-net agreements to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.

2. Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Maintain ownership and oversight of robust internal controls across European and New Market entities to support financial data integrity, policy compliance, and prevention of fraud or financial misstatement.
  • Ensure assigned SOX controls within the GBS controllership function are appropriately designed, implemented, documented, and operating effectively.
  • When needed, serve as an additional reviewer or approver to support proper segregation of duties and SOX compliance.
  • Continuously assess and improve risk management practices within the accounting function, identifying and mitigating financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Implement audit-ready practices that can withstand internal and external audit scrutiny across all in-scope entities.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate directly with country finance directors to ensure consistency in financial reporting while addressing local accounting, statutory, and tax requirements.
  • Partner with Tax to support management and optimization of the European tax structure.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Tax to ensure intercompany agreements, transfer pricing policies, and cross-border transactions comply with local and international requirements.
  • Collaborate with Treasury and country finance directors to support efficient cash management, foreign currency management, and financing activities within the hub-and-spoke structure.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the GBS RTR team and other functions, including Global Technology Solutions, Consolidations, Technical Accounting, Procure-to-Pay, Internal Controls, Corporate Controllership, and other stakeholders as required.

4. Process Improvement & Systems Integration

  • Lead the GBS controllership roadmap for change management, including standardization, system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and adoption of process improvements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to standardize and streamline accounting processes across European and New Market entities, improving efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Drive process optimization and technology adoption to reduce manual effort, enhance data quality, and improve decision-making.

5. Strategic Leadership

  • Work closely with the Corporate Controller and other senior leaders to develop and execute RTR financial strategies for Europe and New Markets, providing insights and recommendations aligned with corporate objectives and the continued build-out of the GBS controllership function in Poland.
  • Support the evolution of controllership activities from a regionally distributed model to a scalable, standardized, and integrated GBS operating model.

6. Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop a team of RTR professionals operating in a hybrid work model.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and oversight to ensure team members adhere to company financial policies, regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and controllership best practices.
  • Support the personal and professional growth of direct reports through regular feedback, recognition, performance management, collaboration, and promotion of a healthy and open working environment.
