Position Overview:
To work directly with seasoned Credit Reporting Specialists, utilizing knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and related regulations, along with knowledge of Metro 2® furnishing rules, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of SECU credit reporting data for SECU members, by researching and responding to credit reporting disputes. To provide exceptional member service through the quality of the work completed for the membership.
Essential Responsibilities:
(70%) Works under general supervision and follows established policies, procedures and requirements under the FCRA and Metro 2® furnishing requirements to investigate and respond to direct and indirect consumer credit disputes. Validates credit reporting data for SECU and process corrections when necessary, ensuring a positive member experience.
(15%) Communicates with members and member-facing staff on status of credit dispute matters, including researching reporting concerns and acting on resolution.
(10%) Develop credit reporting knowledge -- Complete training on credit reporting basics, federal CDIA guidance, Metro2® reporting standards, and SECU policies and procedures related to furnishing and disputing credit data.
(5%) Complete required learning modules and continuing education requirements.
Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
Minimum education: HS Diploma or GED
Minimum direct experience: 0-2 years of credit reporting experience
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within stringent time requirements
Must be able to use available resources to locate and acquire information regarding regulations and SECU policies and guidelines
Must be willing to engage in ongoing training and professional development
Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions
High attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers and others
Experience using Microsoft Office products
Proficiency in data entry
Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
Prefer a four-year degree
Prefer one year of direct credit reporting experience
A general knowledge of loan originations and loan servicing systems
A general knowledge of lending compliance and relevant regulations, including FCRA, FACTA, GLB, BSA, ECOA, and UDAAP, as related to ensuring fair and accurate credit reporting
Experience using e-Oscar or credit dispute management software
Experience using Data Studio or equivalent data furnishing validation software
Experience operating in a highly regulated role
Job Environment & Physical Requirements:
Hybrid work environment allowing remote work and requiring work from our Raleigh office at least 3 days per month
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Must be able to use a telephone for prolonged periods of time
Must be able to use a computer for prolonged periods of time
