This temporary position is located at 512 N. Salisbury Street Raleigh, NC 27604- Wake County, with the Department of Public Safety - Budget & Analysis.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $43.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

The position exists to conduct sophisticated budget analysis and management of multiple disaster recovery funding sources, which belong to the Department of Public Safety.  The position provides financial expertise to ensure compliance with federal and state funding regulations, while supporting financial decisions and advising management on budget trends, funding availability, and necessary corrective actions.  The work requires independent execution under the supervision of the Budget Director.  This position works to manage and monitor budgets that are assigned.

Job duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Analyzing complex funding streams focusing on disaster recovery operations within the organization
  • Conducting thorough assessments of projects fundings requirements through budget planning and monitoring activities
  • Researching and identifying budget discrepancies
  • Proposing solutions to leaders regarding fund status, financial risks, and emerging budget issues, and various other duties and responsibilities around declared disasters for North Carolina

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or related field, from an accredited institution and four years of experience preferably including experience in accounting or budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
