Inside Sales Agent

Position Summary

The Inside Sales Agent is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, supporting sales activities, and helping drive sales opportunities from initial inquiry through completion. This position works closely with customers and the outside sales team to provide product information, prepare quotations, process orders, and coordinate order updates. The Inside Sales Agent also maintains accurate customer and sales records, tracks open orders and sales opportunities, and supports the team by documenting sales wins and losses. A strong understanding of United Fire’s products and services is essential to effectively assist customers and identify opportunities to meet their needs. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers by providing exceptional service, responding to inquiries, and following up on sales opportunities.
• Support the outside sales team with customer inquiries, quotations, product information, order processing, follow-up, and other sales-related activities.
• Develop a thorough understanding of United Fire products and services to effectively recommend solutions and identify additional sales opportunities.
• Assist firefighters with uniform fittings by taking accurate measurements and ensuring proper fit.
• Prepare accurate quotations, pricing information, proposals, and other sales documentation.
• Maintain accurate customer and sales information in the CRM system, including customer interactions, open opportunities, and sales activity.
• Monitor and follow up on open customer orders and sales opportunities accurately documenting completed sales and lost opportunities.
• Coordinate with operations and purchasing to provide customers and the outside sales team with product availability, order status, and estimated delivery dates.
• Stay informed of company products, industry trends, and market conditions to identify opportunities and support customer needs.
• Provide front counter and general customer service support as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Details 

• Full-time
• FLSA Status: Non-exempt hourly
• Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Requirements

 Education, Experience, and Additional Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of inside sales, customer service, or account management experience preferred.
• Experience in the fire service, public safety, municipal sales, or related industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment, PPE, emergency response products, or fire service operations is desirable.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer, utilizing a telephone, and performing administrative tasks. 
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, or kneel while retrieving files, inspecting products, or assisting customers.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as needed.
