Project Information:
ACCIONA is part of CoastalTraX, delivering the greenfield works for Stage 1 of The Wave: 19 kilometres of dual-track passenger rail between Beerwah and Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. Backed by $5.5 billion in joint government funding, the project is part of Queensland's infrastructure pipeline ahead of Brisbane 2032 and is now in design and preconstruction.
About the Opportunity:
As Senior Health and Safety Manager, you will lead the safety strategy for ACCIONA's scope on The Wave Stage 1, reporting to the Project Director and guiding multiple direct and indirect reports. You will set the safety vision, embed a positive safety culture and lead incident investigations, using root cause analysis to drive lasting improvement. You will coach Safety Managers, Advisors and Coordinators, influence project leadership on health, safety and wellbeing outcomes, and act as trusted advisor across a complex, multi-partner delivery team.
Key accountabilities for the position will be:
- Lead the development and delivery of health and safety programs
- Lead incident investigations and enforce corrective actions
- Drive risk assessments, safety audits and site inspections
- Coach and develop Safety Managers, Advisors and Coordinators
- Monitor safety performance and report to executive leadership
- Partner with project leadership to embed a positive safety culture
- Review and improve safety policies, procedures and management systems
Required Skills and Competencies
What capability and experience will you need to have:
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Qualification in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Experience in rail or large-scale infrastructure delivery
- Proven leadership of safety teams on complex, multi-partner projects
