Drive Performance Behind World-Class Mission-Critical Projects

The successful delivery of hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure projects requires more than exceptional construction execution. It requires disciplined cost management, accurate forecasting, reliable reporting, and meaningful project performance visibility. Project Controls Specialists play a critical role in helping project teams monitor project health, manage financial performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

At Michels Infrastructure Solutions (MIS), we deliver some of North America's largest and most complex mission-critical and hyperscale infrastructure projects. As the general contracting and EPC delivery arm of Michels, MIS leverages the self-perform capabilities of the Michels Family of Companies to execute every phase of construction, from site development and utilities through power infrastructure, commissioning, and project closeout.

Our teams support leading technology companies and developers by delivering the critical infrastructure required to power cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital connectivity. Known for tackling challenging scopes, aggressive schedules, and complex project environments, MIS combines the resources of a national EPC contractor with the accountability, agility, and hands-on leadership needed to successfully deliver world-class mission-critical facilities.

Position Overview

As a Project Controls Specialist, you will work closely with project management and operations teams to support budgeting, forecasting, cost control, project reporting, financial analysis, and project coordination activities across large-scale hyperscale data center construction projects.

This role serves as a key business partner to project teams by providing accurate project financial information, supporting project controls processes, identifying performance trends, and helping ensure projects remain aligned with budget, schedule, and operational objectives. You will collaborate with project management, accounting, procurement, estimating, legal, and field operations teams to support successful project execution.

Success requires strong analytical capabilities, financial acumen, organizational discipline, and the ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project progress and help ensure project budgets, schedules, and performance targets are maintained.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly forecasts, monthly forecasts, cash flow reports, cost reports, and project performance metrics.

  • Assist with purchase order tracking, invoice allocation, commitment management, and cost coding activities.
  • Facilitate project financial reviews, lessons learned sessions, PM-estimator handoffs, and other project-related meetings.

What You'll Do

  • Support project controls activities throughout the lifecycle of hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze project costs, commitments, forecasts, productivity trends, cash flow, and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain project reports, dashboards, KPIs, and financial tracking tools used by project leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Monitor budget performance and help ensure project teams maintain accurate forecasting models.
  • Partner with project managers and operations leaders to evaluate cost impacts, schedule influences, productivity trends, and risk exposure.
  • Assist with change management processes, contract administration support, and project financial reporting.
  • Train project teams on company project controls systems, reporting requirements, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy, efficiency, and project performance.
  • Support startup, execution, turnover, and closeout activities through accurate reporting and financial management.
