Role summary:
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure development while driving full lifecycle management across multiple teams. The position champions DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and operational excellence. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the manager guides technical decisions, mentors engineers, and manages stakeholder relationships to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that meet business objectives and enhance system performance.
About the team:
The team develops and maintains the T0 system, which is essential for displaying catalog items across all Walmart International eCommerce sites and ensuring their transactable status. It drives platform-level software execution, focusing on scalable, reliable, and secure solutions. The team collaborates closely with stakeholders to align priorities and deliver milestones on time. It embraces continuous improvement through automation, DevOps practices, and cloud financial management. Members apply strong project and product management skills to support seamless system integration and operational excellence, enabling a consistent and efficient customer experience worldwide.
What you'll do:

• Partner with cross-functional team members to develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap, while balancing technological excellence
• Lead technical direction and architecture with engineering team members.
• Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software
• Educate and advocate for engineering best practices within the microservices ecosystem
• Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure, and reusable development.
• Manage cloud cost optimization and enhance automation, telemetry, and tooling to reduce operational friction.
• Mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and promote technical quality through rigorous testing and code reviews.
• Foster continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and products.

What you'll bring:

• Proven hands-on leadership in Tier 0 systems overseeing software execution aligned with strategic roadmaps.
• Strong Knowledge in Java (Spring Boot), KAFKA, Reactive Spring, Cassandra, Rust (a plus)
• Expertise in software development lifecycle management, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance across multiple teams.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps architecture, CI/CD practices, and cloud financial management to optimize delivery and cost efficiency.
• Experience guiding architectural reviews and system design to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
• Skilled in mentoring engineers and fostering technical excellence through rigorous testing and code quality standards.
• Proficient in project and milestone management with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

  The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience.
