The Sr. Equipment Engineer is responsible for the selection, qualification, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing and laboratory equipment used in the production of oligonucleotide products. This role ensures equipment reliability, process performance, and operational readiness while supporting technology transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

This position is part of the Operations group located in Sunnyvale, CA and will be an on-site role. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: 

• Lead the installation, qualification, validation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and laboratory equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. 

• Develop, implement, and maintain equipment procedures, preventive maintenance programs, calibration schedules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support equipment reliability and regulatory compliance. 

• Coordinate FSE activities. 

• Troubleshoot equipment performance issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve equipment effectiveness. 

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using DBS tools to improve equipment uptime, process capability, throughput, reliability, and operational efficiency. 

• Other duties as assigned. 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or related discipline. 

• Proficient in supporting manufacturing, laboratory, or process equipment within a production environment. 

• Experience with equipment qualification, validation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management. (Sustainment)

• Experience authoring and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation in a manufacturing environment. 

• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), calibration programs, and equipment asset management. 

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: 

• Ability to work in a laboratory/manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods 

• Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 50lb 

It would be a plus if you also possess: 

• Experience with nucleic acid manufacturing, oligonucleotide synthesis equipment, sequencing workflows, or similar life science production technologies. 

• Knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., GMP, ISO 13485, FDA-regulated, or similar quality systems). 

• Experience with PLC-controlled systems, automation platforms, robotic liquid handling systems, or process control systems.

The annual salary range for this role is $120,000-$135,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. 

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
