About AMD Lasers

AMD Lasers is an innovative dental technology company located in West Jordan, Utah. We develop, manufacture, and market products used by dental professionals throughout the United States and around the world.

We are looking for a curious, analytical college or university student to join our Marketing team in a part-time role focused on data mining, market research, customer insights, and turning information into actionable business recommendations.

This is an opportunity to work with real-world business data and help answer questions that directly influence our marketing and sales strategies.

 

What You'll Do

You will work with AMD's Marketing and Sales teams to find insights hidden within customer, sales, market, and competitive data.

Projects may include:

• Analyzing customer purchasing patterns to identify sales and marketing opportunities
• Mining customer databases to identify trends, segments, and potential target audiences
• Identifying customers who have stopped purchasing and helping determine opportunities to reactivate them
• Analyzing which products customers purchase together and identifying cross-selling opportunities
• Evaluating customer purchase frequency, average order value, and lifetime value
• Segmenting customers based on behavior, geography, product ownership, practice type, or other characteristics
• Researching dental practices, dental groups, DSOs, distributors, competitors, and market trends
• Creating dashboards, charts, and reports that make complex information easy to understand
• Using AI and other modern tools to accelerate research and analysis
• Presenting findings and recommendations to Marketing and Sales leadership

• Which types of dental practices are most likely to buy a particular AMD product?
• What characteristics do our best customers have in common?
• Which existing customers represent the largest untapped sales opportunity?
• Why do some customers stop purchasing from us?
• What products should we market to customers based on what they already own?
• Which geographic markets or customer segments are underpenetrated?
• Where should our sales team focus its time to generate the greatest return?

You do not need extensive professional experience. We are more interested in your curiosity, analytical ability, initiative, and willingness to learn.

• Has strong attention to detail
• Can recognize patterns in data
• Is naturally curious and willing to investigate questions independently
• Can communicate findings clearly to people who aren't data experts
• Is comfortable learning new software and AI tools
• Understands that analysis is most valuable when it leads to action

Helpful Skills

Experience with some of the following is helpful but not required:

• Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization
• CRM systems
• Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization tools
• AI tools such as ChatGPT
• Marketing analytics
• Market research

We don't expect a student to know all of these. A strong desire to learn is more important than checking every box.
