Role Overview
The Senior International Legal Counsel will join a global legal function and play a central role in high-impact projects spanning multiple jurisdictions. Reporting to the legal leadership responsible for strategic transactions and global client agreements, this professional will provide commercially focused legal guidance throughout complex international contracting processes. The position involves close collaboration with senior executives, finance teams, specialist functions such as tax and insurance, local legal counsel, and external client negotiation teams worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead the legal workstream for strategic international and country-level client opportunities, overseeing the contractual process from the request-for-proposal stage through drafting, negotiation, and local implementation. You will advise contract management teams and regional legal counsel on global client agreements, contribute to compliance matters including competition law, anti-bribery, and data protection, and support an international network of lawyers dedicated to strategic accounts, and you will also promote consistent legal practices by developing practical resources, sharing expertise, and helping the organisation respond effectively to evolving regulations and client expectations.
Requirements
This opportunity requires at least ten years of relevant legal experience, supported by substantial expertise in negotiating and managing sophisticated commercial contracts. An international outlook, excellent English drafting and communication skills (fluency in an additional language is a big plus), and the ability to operate effectively across cultures are essential. The role calls for a commercially minded, pragmatic, and proactive legal professional who can anticipate risks, resolve sensitive matters diplomatically, and translate complex legal issues into workable business solutions. Strong operational awareness, intellectual curiosity, resilience under pressure, and the ability to lead demanding processes independently while maintaining clear communication with management will be critical. A collaborative and service-oriented approach, adaptability, openness to feedback, and a positive attitude will also be valued. Availability for occasional international travel, including at short notice, is required.
