The Opportunity
This role is located onsite at Abbott Park, IL.
The Communications Project Manager provides communications support to Abbott Quality and Regulatory (AQR), developing and executing the communications strategy and delivering superior communication products, including planning events, speeches, correspondence, and employee messages. Supports the Vice President, Regulatory, Quality, and Compliance and the DVP, Compliance and Quality Operations in the management of AQR executive communications. Has considerable interaction with senior executives and lends support to other functions (GES) as necessary.
Main Responsibilities
• Produces communications materials for the Vice President, Regulatory, Quality, and Compliance, and the DVP, Compliance and Quality Operations, including speeches, correspondence, and other vehicles.
• Manages the logistics of the Abbott Quality and Regulatory (AQR) internal Communication program, including maintenance of the events and communications calendar.
• Plans, coordinates, and executes event logistics for: Convergence Summit annual Quality and Regulatory conference, bi-yearly President’s Awards, Global Quality and Regulatory Awards, VP and DVP Employee Meetings, Leadership Forums twice/year, and DVP Awards for the Compliance and Quality Operations organization
• Heads annual Quality and Regulatory Month initiative: leads a team of 90+ from each division globally to plan activities and events for November. Planning activities take place April - December every year.
• Works closely with Quality and Regulatory division heads across Abbott during the project management of Convergence Summit, Global Awards, and Quality and Regulatory Month.
• Site Champion for campaigns (We Give Blood, APW, World Blood Day, Heart Health Month)
• Creates and distributes Abbott Quality and Regulatory communications such as: Organizational Announcements, AQR events (i.e. Employee Giving Campaign, Spirit Days, Quality and Regulatory Month), announcements on behalf of AQR, and other notes requested from AQR senior management
• Writes, formats, and distributes AQR Newsletter (3x/year) and the Compliance and Quality Operations Newsletter (2x/year). Writes and posts “From Our Leader” messages on Abbott World for VP Regulatory, Quality, and Compliance.
• Works with sensitive information and oversees high-visibility events and communication processes.
• Has contact with a broad range of internal and external contacts, across organizational levels.
• Manages budget for the owned events. Estimates costs, resources, and time required to complete.
• Manages all aspects of large-scale and complex project events, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.
• Administers social media platforms (Viva Engage and aLIVE) as part of the Global Quality and Regulatory Month initiative. Contributes to written materials for Employee Communications and Corporate Information purposes.
• Monitors and regulates the following SharePoint sites: Global Training and Intelligence Services, AQR Quality homepage, and Convergence Summit/Global Awards
• Known SME in communications and project management within AQR division and departments
• Manages AQR contact distribution lists as well as AQR Communication mailbox
• Designs, communicates, and implements project plans for above events. Monitors activities, allocates resources, and assigns tasks to ensure targets are met.
• Works on projects as assigned by the Director, Training and Intelligence Services
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a high-level communications environment in business or government
• Demonstrated customer service orientation and a collaborative working style.
• Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to redefine and improve processes and tools supporting a large, dynamic organization.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree
• Experience producing executive communications in multiple forms (speeches, presentations, correspondence, etc.) is a must. Must also have experience working with senior management.
• Working knowledge of the Quality System.
