Description
We are looking for a People Business Partner to play a key role in supporting our people strategy, partnering with leaders across the business to deliver a high-performing, engaged and inclusive workplace. Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, you will provide professional HR support across the full employee lifecycle while helping to shape and deliver initiatives that align our people strategy with business objectives.
Working closely with the Head of People and wider leadership team, you will build strong relationships across the organisation, lead on employee relations, support people development, and ensure our HR practices, policies and processes continue to reflect the high standards of Gordon Murray Automotive.
The Role
This is your chance to:
- Partner with senior managers across the business, providing trusted HR advice and support that aligns people initiatives with business objectives.
- Support and continuously enhance the employee journey, from recruitment and onboarding through to development, progression and offboarding.
- Work alongside the Lead Talent Partner to support recruitment campaigns, onboarding activities and the attraction of exceptional talent.
- Lead and support employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, capability, performance improvement plans and complex case management.
- Provide expert guidance to managers on employment legislation, company policies, family-friendly leave and best practice people management.
- Develop, review and maintain HR policies, procedures and process documentation to ensure compliance, consistency and continuous improvement.
- Act as the HRIS superuser, producing employee data reports, maintaining accurate records and supporting managers and employees with system queries.
- Coordinate HR administration activities including contractual changes, employee correspondence, payroll updates, purchase requisitions and invoice processing.
- Support the delivery of monthly payroll by ensuring employee changes, overtime and approvals are processed accurately and on time.
- Manage salary increase and promotion processes, ensuring business cases are reviewed and approvals are completed efficiently.
- Deliver management workshops, learning initiatives and development programmes that support leadership capability across the business.
- Partner with managers to identify training needs, manage training budgets and support succession planning and employee development.
- Support annual people processes including salary reviews, performance development planning and settling-in period reviews.
- Lead and contribute to People Team projects that drive continuous improvement and support organisational growth.
- Ensure HR records, organisational charts, personnel files and company documentation remain accurate, compliant and audit ready.
- Line manage, coach and develop members of the People Team, creating a collaborative, high-performing and customer-focused function.
- Build strong relationships across all company sites, travelling regularly to provide visible, accessible HR support to managers and employees.
About You
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards), with CIPD Level 3 or equivalent as a minimum. CIPD Level 7 is advantageous.
- Strong generalist HR experience across the full employee lifecycle within a fast-paced business environment.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management.
- Confident providing advice and guidance to managers on employment legislation, HR best practice and organisational policy.
- Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration and HR operational processes.
- Previous experience leading, coaching or developing an HR team with the ability to motivate and support colleagues.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of HR systems (HRIS), reporting and data management.
- Confident delivering training, presentations and management workshops to a range of audiences.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Advanced IT skills across Microsoft Office, SharePoint and HR systems, with experience of Visio considered advantageous.
- Proactive, collaborative and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for developing people and improving processes.
