Head of Employee Relations and Labor Law

I am Marie Ågren and I joined Telia three years ago as Head of People & Culture (P&C) in the commercial unit Telia Sweden. I have a fantastic team that cater for the people agenda of Telia Sweden, across the units for consumer, enterprise, customer operations, Sweden IT as well as our infrastructure unit.
I am now looking for the Head of Employee Relations and Labor Law, a senior Employee Relations leader who combines deep labor relations expertise with executive presence and the negotiation skills required to influence outcomes in a complex and evolving business environment. This is a business-critical role with broad impact across Telia in Sweden (approximately 6000 employees), leading relationships with employee representative organizations and trade unions.
As Head of Employee Relations and Labor Law you own and lead Telia Sweden’s employee relations agenda. The role requires a senior leader and chief negotiator who can navigate labor law and union relationships in Telia Sweden’s fast-paced business, provide advice to senior leadership and people partners and shape long-term labor relations strategy.
As a person, you are result-oriented, structured and organized in your everyday work, able to prioritize and comfortably balance strategic, tactical and operational work. You are to the point in both written and verbal communication and you are decisive and resilient, able to take a stand while building trust and maintaining constructive and professional relationships.
What you’ll do:
Lead Sweden labor law and employee relations, owning local collective bargaining agreements and overseeing the structure of MBL collaboration and negotiations.
Lead business-critical negotiations related to local collective bargaining agreements, organizational changes, redundancies, M&As, and potential labor disputes.
Lead two direct report (specialists in employee relations and work environment), virtually leading people partners in your functional area of expertise, as well as acting as the formal leader for six union/safety organization representatives.
Own and develop relationships with local unions and represent Telia in matters related to employment relations, collective bargaining, negotiations, labor relations strategy.
Act as Telia Sweden’s representative in Tech Sverige’s central CBA negotiations.
Act as Telia Sweden’s senior internal advisor on complex labor law matters such as dismissals, employment security issues, ethics investigations, security deviations, executive employment matters and M&A-related labor law implications.
Partner closely with senior business leaders, People Partners, Legal stakeholders, union leadership, and employer organizations such as TechSverige.
Represent Telia in forums such as MBL Nation council, and Sweden Ethics Board.
Provide 3rd line support to People Partners and consultation on local MBL negotiations and complex employee relations matters.
What will help you thrive in this role:
Extensive experience of employee relations, labor relations, labor law, or a related field
A university degree in HR, labor law, or a related field.
Proven experience personally leading complex negotiations with unions and employee representatives.
Strong understanding of Swedish labor law and collective bargaining frameworks.
Experience from fast-paced industries where change significantly impacts unions and employees, for example restructurings, redundancies, divestments, or acquisitions.
Experience representing the company in central negotiations with employer organizations.
Excellent Swedish and English language skills
