Job Overview

The Logistics Coordinator supports the Landscape Install BCL by helping ensure materials, equipment, vehicles, and job-site resources are available, organized, safe, and ready when needed. This position works closely with the LS Install BCL, Green Goods Buyer, Production teams, Installation crews, and other Service departments to maintain efficient material flow and support daily production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Material Support

• Coordinate the movement and availability of materials from purchasing through Logistics and into production to meet scheduled work.
• Work closely with the Green Goods Buyer and Logistics team to ensure purchased materials are received, organized, maintained, and available when needed.
• Assist with staging and distributing materials for installation and other Landscape Services crews.
• Maintain organized and professional material storage areas, including parking lots, mulch and material holding yards, landscape barn, bulk bins, dumpster pad, and pine/wheat straw trailers.
• Monitor material inventory and communicate shortages, damaged materials, or other logistical concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with vendor delivery drivers, vendors, and New Garden staff.
• Understand and support the logistical needs of other Service areas, including Landscape Maintenance, GET crews, and Irrigation Technicians.

Equipment, Fleet & Safety

• Conduct daily inspections of trucks and equipment to identify safety concerns, maintenance needs, and required repairs.
• Complete and document weekly truck and equipment inspections as required.
• Safely operate and maintain assigned vehicles, trailers, equipment, and power tools.
• Follow all company safety procedures and actively promote safe work practices among team members.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout all assigned Logistics and Services areas.
• Participate in snow and ice removal operations as needed while maintaining a safe work environment.
• Perform monthly building and facility inspections and communicate maintenance or safety concerns.

Plant & Yard Maintenance

• Water and maintain plants and trees in hoop houses and holding yards.
• Perform appropriate weed and insect control in assigned plant-growing and holding areas.
• Assist with small plant warranty installations as directed.
• Perform weed control throughout assigned Logistics areas, including the area extending from the back of the office to the rear of the greenhouses.
• Maintain plant and material holding areas to support efficient workflow and professional presentation.

Debris & Site Management

• Manage and organize debris piles to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Operate appropriate equipment to push up debris and move plant debris from the L/S pile to the grinding pile.
• Assist with loading dumpsters with green and construction debris.
• Maintain clean and organized dumpster, debris, and material areas.
• Assist with general property and facility upkeep as needed to support Landscape Services operations.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of logistics or related landscape operations experience preferred.
• Good plant identification skills with ability and desire to learn.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience driving 2-ton trucks and pulling trailers.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and limited infractions.
• Demonstrated experience operating:
  • Skid steers
  • Mini backhoes
  • Mini skid steers
  • Power tools and related landscape equipment
• Ability to safely lift and handle 50 pounds consistently.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with multiple departments.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, respond to changing production needs, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical & Working Conditions

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, load, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds consistently.
• Ability to operate trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and power tools safely.
• Work may involve exposure to dirt, dust, mulch, plant material, insects, noise, heat, cold, and other outdoor working conditions.
