Manager of Accounts Receivable

General Job Purpose


The Manager of Accounts Receivable is responsible for the oversight of all AR in all PM systems within Midwest Vision Partners (MVP), including insurance and self-pay, as well as debit and credit balances.

This role will help support and build a highly functioning team to reduce DSO, improve net collections, ensure timely reimbursement, reduce credit balances, and improve our patient experience. This includes support and oversight of denial reduction across all medical/surgical locations of Midwest Vision Partners.

This role involves analyzing trends and implementing strategies to prevent repeated negative behaviors. The Manager will collaborate with all leaders in RCM and the Practices to reduce and effectively eliminate barriers.

 

Preferred Locations: Ohio or Michigan preferred. Candidates located in Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and North Carolina will also be considered.


What You Will Be Working On

Performance

  • Set, formalize, and execute strategy to achieve established key objectives and performance indicators along with the RCM leadership team.
  • Optimize collection strategy through continued analysis of AR behavior and industry best practices.
  • Monitor all credit balances, identify root causes, and ensure timely processing based on payer protocols. Establish metrics to improve patient experience and reduce overall credits.
  • Establish key objectives and set targets for key performance indicators.
  • Lead all efforts to analyze and resolve denials, directly dealing with insurance carriers to ensure owed payments are received based on contractual agreements.
  • Ensure timely escalation to the VP of RCM of issues identified.

Leadership and Management

  • Lead, promote, and execute the integration and unification of revenue cycle functions.
  • Establish and enforce workflow processes that achieve targeted KPIs.
  • Develop and coach colleagues and staff to improve performance, raising the competency of the organization and ensuring continuity of all critical accounts receivable activities.
  • Monitor staff productivity and provide the necessary support to help ensure all staff achieve expectations.

Communication and Working Relationships

  • Work cross-functionally to develop and manage efficient and effective denial processes.
  • Respond to inquiries from leadership, Operations, staff, or physicians in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Share metric performance with RCM leadership to educate and create a foundation for continuous process improvement.
  • Coordinate communication to assigned staff on productivity standards, quality standards, policies and procedures, as well as corporate standards.

Expertise

  • Actively understand payer and regulatory trends with the ability to develop strategies with appropriate leaders to activate tactics to mitigate risks.
  • Remain current with governmental, payer, and organizational policy changes applicable to all states in which services are provided.

Other

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Knowledge

  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in supervision or management related to Denials Management.
  • 5+ years in a manager role.
  • Excellent knowledge of governmental and third-party reimbursement structures and contract build.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage priorities while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Education and Skills

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business, Health Administration, or Accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to use PCs and Microsoft Office suites, with advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Contract build experience preferred.
  • Kronos, AllScripts, HST, Nextech, Payer Path, and Waystar experience preferred.
