We’re looking for motivated and reliable Trades Assistants to join our Mackay team across multiple areas within our workshop operations. These roles offer a great opportunity to gain hand-on experience in a leading heavy equipment environment while supporting our skilled tradespeople and production teams. These positions are permanent, Monday to Friday roles.

Trades Assistant – New Builds
As a Trades Assistant in New Builds, you will play a key role in supporting the assembly and preparation of new equipment.
- Support equipment builds – assist trades personnel with equipment assembly, preparation, and build activities to ensure efficient workflow and quality outcomes.
- Prepare parts for success – organise and stage parts and components for upcoming production schedules, helping teams stay on track and ready for the day ahead.
- Maintain a safe workspace – keep work areas clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards to support a productive workshop environment.
- Assist workshop operations – provide general support across daily workshop activities, contributing to team objectives and operational efficiency.
Trades Assistant – Large Retaining Electrics (LRE)
Working within our LRE team, you will assist with the cleaning and preparation of electrical and mechanical components.
- Prepare components for refurbishment – clean and inspect components to ensure they are ready for the next stage of the repair or assembly process.
- Operate cleaning equipment – conduct dip tank and rinsing processes safely and effectively while following workshop procedures.
- Maintain workshop standards – ensure work areas, tools, and equipment remain clean, organised, and ready for use.
- Support the team – assist technicians and trades personnel with general workshop duties to help achieve quality and productivity targets.

What you’ll need:
A successful teammate will have experience in:
- Experience that counts – previous workshop, manufacturing, or Trade Assistant experience is highly regarded but not essential.
- Licences a plus – a current forklift licence is preferred.
- Mechanically minded – enjoy hands-on work and have a natural interest in tools, equipment, and mechanical processes.
- Safety minded – committed to maintaining high workplace health and safety standards and following safe work practices at all times.
- Eager to learn – bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to develop new skills in a workshop environment.
- Attention to detail – take pride in completing tasks accurately and maintaining quality standards across all work activities.
