The Field Medical Manager bridges Medical Affairs and the community pharmacy ecosystem, creating a new model of scientific partnership that empowers pharmacists, generates actionable insights and delivers measurable value for patients, healthcare professionals, and the healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Scientific Engagement: Lead strategic scientific engagement across the community pharmacy ecosystem, fostering trusted partnerships with pharmacists, pharmacy networks, professional associations, and healthcare stakeholders to generate high-value insights, identify unmet needs, and translate external perspectives into actions that advance patient care, professional practice, and healthcare system outcomes.

Medical Strategy and Planning: Lead the development and execution of the Retail Medical Plan, translating scientific priorities, stakeholder insights, and healthcare-system needs into a focused, outcome-driven strategy that delivers measurable impact through effective governance, resource allocation, and continuous optimization.

Pharmacy Practice Innovation: Lead innovative medical initiatives that empower pharmacists to enhance patient support, appropriate medicine use, health literacy, and continuity of care, generating meaningful value for patients and the healthcare system.

Evidence Generation and Adoption Science: Generate actionable evidence and insights from the community pharmacy ecosystem to identify barriers and opportunities, informing strategies that advance pharmacist confidence, appropriate medicine use, patient access, and adoption of evidence-based practice.

Scientific Education and Omnichannel Excellence: Design and deliver impactful, evidence-based education that enhances pharmacist knowledge, confidence, and practice, enabling better patient care and more informed healthcare decisions.

Integrated Healthcare Pathways: Foster collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem, connecting pharmacists with healthcare stakeholders to advance coordinated care, improve patient journeys, and support better health outcomes through evidence-based practice.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the medical catalyst across the community pharmacy ecosystem, aligning cross-functional stakeholders around scientific excellence, patient value, and healthcare system impact while ensuring medical integrity and strategic relevance.

Insight-to-Action and Medical Operations: Transform insights into strategic actions, evidence generation, and impactful medical initiatives while ensuring disciplined execution of the Retail Medical Plan through robust governance, operational excellence, and outcome-focused decision-making.

Compliance, Safety and Quality: Uphold the highest standards of medical governance, compliance and patient safety, ensuring scientific integrity and the appropriate management of safety and quality information.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance will be evaluated through a balanced set of quality, impact, execution, and compliance metrics, including:

  • Insight Generation & Actionability: Quality, relevance, and conversion of insights into measurable actions and business decisions.
  • Scientific Engagement Effectiveness: Meaningful engagement and sustained partnerships with priority pharmacy stakeholders and networks.
  • Education & Capability Building Impact: Improvement in stakeholder knowledge, confidence, and practice following medical initiatives.
  • Evidence Generation & Application: Delivery and utilization of evidence that informs healthcare decisions and addresses identified gaps.
  • Healthcare System Contribution: Advancement of collaborative care pathways, patient support, and appropriate medicine use.
  • Medical Plan Execution: Achievement of agreed objectives, timelines, budget commitments, and governance requirements.
  • Patient & System Value Creation: Demonstrable contribution to patient outcomes, health literacy, access, and healthcare system sustainability.
  • Compliance, Safety & Quality: Adherence to compliance standards, completion of required training, and appropriate management of safety and quality reporting.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A strong scientific foundation, supported by an advanced degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, with the credibility to engage confidently with healthcare professionals and scientific stakeholders.
  • Proven Medical Affairs experience across areas such as field medical, medical strategy, evidence generation, medical education, launch excellence, or healthcare-system engagement, with a passion for translating science into meaningful healthcare impact.
  • A deep appreciation of the evolving role of community pharmacy and its growing contribution to patient care, health literacy, prevention, adherence, and healthcare-system sustainability.
  • Proficient adoption of Medical/Scientific English in strategic discussion

Compensation Structure & Criteria: 

Sandoz compensation is determined by job level, qualifications, niche skills, experience, and location within company salary ranges. Fully proficient and highly effective employees can expect a starting salary around market median, with those new to the level or with less functional depth at the lower end of the range and those with sustained superior or niche skills towards the higher end of the range. Internal equity and external market data inform our range placement. Annual salary reviews consider performance outcomes, market alignment, and business needs.
