The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Civil Engineer to join the Christchurch team. This role is ideally suited to a driven professional with a strong background in civil design, construction observation, and consulting within land development and infrastructure projects.
You will enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, partnering closely with engineers, surveyors, clients, contractors, and local authorities to successfully deliver a diverse range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of land development and infrastructure projects across public and private sector clients.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, and client expectations to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Undertake civil engineering design and technical documentation.
- Provide construction observation, contract administration, and technical support during project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, council representatives, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant standards, regulations, and council requirements.
Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years' experience in civil engineering, ideally within land development projects.
- CPEng status or be actively progressing towards chartership.
- Proven land development and infrastructure project experience.
- Strong civil design capabilities and proficiency in 12d Model.
- The ability to manage projects and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Practical site-based experience and a sound understanding of construction methodologies.
- Experience in contract observation and administration, including a strong working knowledge of NZS3910.
- Familiarity with local authority standards, codes of practice, and consenting processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
