Job Description

Role Summary

This is a full-time salaried position with Project Farma, a PerkinElmer company. The successful candidate will reside in one of Project Farma's primary markets and be willing to travel domestically to meet client project requests.

Project Farma’s purpose is to improve patient lives by accelerating the delivery of life-changing therapies. We accomplish this through the successful execution of high-quality life sciences projects across the full project lifecycle. Project Farma (PF) team members collaborate with cross-functional teams to build trusted client relationships, deliver exceptional customer experience, and contribute to business growth by identifying opportunities and applying data-driven insights to support project planning, cost, schedule, and performance management.

All team members are expected to embody Project Farma’s values by being curious, personable, and unselfish, while maintaining a strong commitment to a Patient Focused and People First mindset.

This role will lead Project Farma’s Safety and EHS program across the Americas region, setting regional strategy, standards and governance for all sites and field service operations, in alignment with the Global EHS strategy across PerkinElmer. This role will collaborate closely with the EHS incumbents across PerkinElmer. Additionally, this role will serve as the senior EHS advisor to regional leadership within Project Farma, building a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance in every operation in the region and driving measurable improvement in EHS and environmental sustainability performance. This role will also have billable targets of +/- 20%

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the Project Farma EHS strategy and roadmap, aligned with the global EHS strategy within PerkinElmer, regional business growth plans and the company's sustainability commitments
  • Implement EHS policies, standards and procedures consistently across Project Farma and field service operations, adapting them to local regulatory requirements
  • Provide governance oversight of the EHS management system across the region, and drive continual improvement.
  • Advise Project Farma leadership on EHS risk, regulatory trends and their business impact; present Project Farma EHS performance and priorities to regional and global leadership
  • Define Project Farma EHS KPIs, targets and leading/lagging indicators; consolidate, analyze and report on performance across the organization.
  • Champion a strong EHS culture through visible leadership, behavior-based safety and engagement programs for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EHS laws and regulations; monitor emerging regulations and plan proactively for their impact
  • Serve as the principal company contact with regulatory authorities in the region on significant EHS matters, inspections, permits and enforcement actions
  • Oversee regional risk management programs, including hazard and risk assessment, environmental aspects and impacts, industrial hygiene, chemical management and radiation safety
  • Direct investigation of serious incidents in the region and root cause analysis, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions and sharing lessons learned globally
  • Lead emergency preparedness, crisis management and business continuity planning for Project Farma in collaboration with Security, Facilities and Operations
  • Manage the Project Farma audit program and lead EHS due diligence and integration for acquisitions, divestitures, new sites and site closures in the region
  • Partner with the Global EHS team across PerkinElmer and other regional EHS leaders to share best practices and contribute to global EHS initiatives
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Operations, and Commercial teams on EHS matters, including contractor safety, product stewardship and customer EHS requirements
  • Perform other strategic projects or tasks assigned by management

Attributes for Success

  • Crisis Composure: Leads incident command and crisis response calmly, makes decisions with incomplete information and communicates clearly to leadership, clients and authorities under pressure
  • EHS Technical Depth: Applies deep technical and regulatory expertise across safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance and emergency response to make sound risk decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Integrity & Courage: Raises safety concerns and stops work when conditions require it, regardless of schedule or commercial pressure, and puts the PF mission above ego
  • Influence Without Authority: Builds alignment with site, field and functional leaders who do not report to this role, and frames EHS risk in business terms senior leadership can act on
  • Strategic Thinking: Translates business goals into practical EHS plans and influences senior stakeholders
  • Executive Communication: Communicates clearly in writing and verbally, including presenting to senior leadership and regulators

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, laboratory, life sciences or industrial environments, including at least 5 years in an EHS leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading EHS programs across multiple sites
  • Professional EHS certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. EHS regulations (e.g. OSH Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA) and working knowledge of Canadian, Mexican and Latin American EHS requirements
  • Travel: Up to 30-40% travel across the Americas to client sites and Project Farma locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or Business Administration
  • Additional credentials such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), PE or ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 Lead Auditor
  • Experience with EHS due diligence and integration for mergers and acquisitions
  • Experience with sustainability/ESG frameworks and GHG accounting
