About the Role
EA Talent Solutions has been engaged by a Top 15 professional services firm to find a Tax Partner for its Real Estate, REITs, Funds, and Trusts practice.
Real Estate investors, fund sponsors, and fiduciaries face tax questions that grow more complex with every transaction, structure, and regulatory change. As a Tax Partner, you’ll lead our client work in these areas, grow the practice, and mentor the professionals who serve these clients.
What You’ll Do
Lead tax planning and compliance engagements for REITs, Real Estate owners and operators, private equity and Real Estate funds, and trusts
Advise clients on entity structuring, acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and capital raises
Advise on REIT qualification matters, including asset and income tests, taxable REIT subsidiaries, UPREIT structures, and distribution requirements
Guide fund clients through partnership taxation, allocations, carried interest, and investor reporting
Advise on trust and fiduciary tax matters, including grantor and non-grantor trusts, and estate and gift considerations
Build and sustain relationships with clients, referral sources, and other practices across the firm
Develop new business through proposals, presentations, and thought leadership
Manage engagement economics, including staffing, budgets, realization, and collections
Coach and develop managers and staff, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture
Uphold firm quality, risk management, and professional standards
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field; CPA required; JD, LLM in taxation, or master’s in taxation preferred
Typically 12 or more years of progressive public accounting or law firm tax experience, including significant experience with REITs, Real Estate, funds, and trusts
Working command of partnership taxation (Subchapters K and M), including sections 704(b), 704(c), 754, and 1031 as they apply to Real Estate and funds
Experience with multistate, international, and tax-exempt or foreign investor considerations, such as UBTI, ECI, and FIRPTA
A portfolio of clients or a demonstrated ability to build one
Strong technical judgment, plus the ability to explain complex issues clearly to C-suite clients and investors
Proven record of leading teams and developing talent
