Verizon Ireland Sourcing Team is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships across the enterprise to achieve best total value. As a Sourcing Consultant the candidate will be responsible for handling Verizon internal Client’s end to end sourcing requests.  

Strategic Sourcing Consultant position is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships across the enterprise to achieve the best total value. You will effectively manage the seven steps of the sourcing process including Spend analysis, Market Research, Supplier Due Diligence, Sourcing Strategy, RFX Management, Bid Analysis and Contract Management and Supplier Performance Management.

The candidate will be able to appraise and improve our sourcing activities by analysing the Client’s spending, supplying partnerships and new possibilities.The role will consist of both order management activities and leading sourcing projects across multiple categories. The successful candidate will be a dynamic professional and a strong team player with a transformational approach to current Verizon set ups, and with the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to design and execute processes in a global environment whilst supporting the Sourcing Organization.

What you will be doing:

• Executing category strategies by generating and implementing efficient category management practices based on data analysis and market intelligence discussions.
• Leading strategic sourcing processes by developing, managing, and leading Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs) through supplier selection and final stakeholder approvals.
• Optimizing sourcing procedures to streamline workflows and achieve maximum operational efficiency and developing sourcing strategies to acquire materials and services at the optimal price and quality.
• Managing network infrastructure sourcing by leading sourcing activities for construction, installation, engineering, and maintenance services across Network Telecom infrastructure (including civil builds, fiber cable laying/installation, and associated assets).
• Evaluating supplier competencies by identifying and assessing potential suppliers using industry cost models, RFX development/execution, proposal evaluations, total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and supplier selection recommendations (upon partner approval and successful negotiation/contracting).
• Analyzing financial data by performing deep financial and business data analysis on supplier proposals and capability assessments to support the growth of the Verizon supply base, including the ownership and management of key partners.
• Addressing spend inconsistencies by identifying spend discrepancies and collaborating with sourcing teams to reduce overall financial exposure and risk.
• Initiating supplier contract discussions for vendors whose spend exceeds the established threshold.
• Executing high-level negotiations by preparing and running negotiation strategies to secure favorable deals, directly resolving pricing discrepancies, generating spend savings, and negotiating contract terms at the Senior Management level.
• Drafting & Finalizing contracts through execution by relevant authorized parties in close liaison with the Legal and Contract Management teams, aiming for optimal cost/service guarantees and sustainable, "win-win" relationships.
• Overseeing contract administration using designated sourcing systems.
• Managing key supplier relationships by executing supplier relationship management activities and supervising performance for assigned key suppliers and categories.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with global cross-functional teams across the organization throughout the entire supplier selection and approval process.
• Maintaining high standards of precision and quality across all deliverables.

• Proven experience in a similar role of sourcing activities and contract drafting skills or Civil Engineering projects.
• Knowledge of the legal language, terminologies related to contracting.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift to meet work project completion requirements.
• Willingness to continuously learn new tools, solutions, and emerging technologies.
• You must have a valid permission to work in Ireland.

 

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of Sourcing or Civil Engineering.
• Knowledge / experience of Wireless & Wireline Telecommunications (Fiber Optics, Cell Towers, etc.).
• Knowledge / experience of Data Center or other civil builds.

• Understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgment
• Operate with internal & external stakeholders in a matrix environment
• Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships
• Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analysing and interpreting data, proficient in excel/Google sheets
• Good knowledge of ERP systems (SAP S4 HANA and Ariba) would be an advantage.

• Other certifications from Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) or Irish Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management (IIPMM).
• Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Business Analytical approaches and applications (including basic knowledge of Power BI)
• Project management skills and certification
• Ability to work in a fast-paced matrixes global environment

• Proficiency with Google Applications. As well as Microsoft Suite applications (including PowerPoint, and Word) Advanced Excel skills and understanding
• Proficiency with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
