Position Summary

The Senior Specialist, SAP S/4HANA Platform & Architecture is responsible for the design, governance, optimization, security, stability, and continuous evolution of the SAP S/4HANA platform. This role provides deep technical leadership across the SAP ecosystem, including S/4HANA, HANA Database, Fiori, SAP Integration technologies, SAP Security, Cloud Infrastructure, Disaster Recovery, Data Volume Management, and platform modernization initiatives.

The incumbent serves as a senior technical advisor and ensures the SAP platform remains secure, scalable, performant, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards while supporting critical finance and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Platform Architecture & Governance

• Define and maintain the end-to-end SAP S/4HANA technical architecture roadmap.
• Govern architecture standards for SAP applications, databases, cloud infrastructure, integrations, security, and high availability.
• Evaluate new SAP technologies and recommend modernization opportunities.
• Lead technical design reviews and architecture governance for SAP initiatives.
• Develop capacity planning and forecasting models.
• Define enterprise SAP Data Volume Management (DVM) strategy.

SAP S/4HANA Platform Operations

• Drive automation and operational efficiency improvements.
• Establish End to End Observability, Automation (including incident auto-remediation)

SAP Security & Compliance

• Define SAP security architecture and technical security standards.
• Partner with Cyber Security teams on risk assessments and remediation plans.
• Ensure secure integration with enterprise IAM, access management, and authentication platforms.

SAP Upgrades & Lifecycle Management

• Conduct impact assessments and risk mitigation planning.
• Ensure platform supportability and vendor compliance.

Integration Architecture

• Design and govern integrations between SAP and enterprise systems.
• Provide architecture oversight across:
  • SAP BTP
  • SAP Integration Suite
  • APIs
  • Middleware platforms
  • Data platforms
  • Cloud services
  • Identity management solutions
• Ensure secure and reliable data exchange across the enterprise.

Cloud, Infrastructure & Disaster Recovery

• Partner with Cloud Engineering teams on SAP cloud architecture.
• Design highly available and resilient SAP environments.
• Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and validation activities.
• Support infrastructure modernization initiatives across AWS, Azure, and SAP landscapes.
• Ensure adherence to resiliency and recovery objectives.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• SAP certifications required.

Experience

• 7+ years of SAP technical platform experience.
• 5+ years supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Experience with large-scale, highly integrated SAP landscapes.
• Proven experience leading critical platform modernization or cloud transformation programs.

Technical Expertise:

• SAP Platform: S/4 Hana, DB, BTP
• SAP Security: Authorization concepts, Identity and Access Management, Security Hardening, Audit Compliance
• Integration Technology: API, SAP Cloud Connector, Middleware platforms
• Database and Optimization: Hana Admin, Performance tunning, Capacity Planning, Data Archiving, workload optimization
• Cloud & Infra: AWS IaaS, PaaS, Storage, Automation & IaC, Linux Admin and HA (clustering), DR.
• Leaderhsip Competencies: Strategic thinker with strong Architecture mindset, strong problem solving and analytical skills, & ability to lead modernization initiatives.

$94,600.00 - $176,000.00

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
