Job Description:
Systems Technology & Research, Inc. (STaR) is seeking an Integration Lead / Operations Analyst in the Huntsville, AL area to support the Army's Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Project Office located at Redstone Arsenal, AL. to serve as the vital operational catalyst and strategic advisor directly supporting the Integration Cell Director. In this high-impact role, you are responsible for capturing, institutionalizing, and operationalizing Launched Effects (LE) and One-Way Attack (OWA) lessons learned from global conflict environments, theater exercises, and Combatant Commands (COCOMs). Candidate must be a forward-thinking operator with an unyielding intellectual curiosity, an obsession with cutting-edge technology (AI, machine learning, autonomous swarming, and edge compute), and the intellectual courage to challenge legacy bureaucracy, defy dogmatic systems, and break through conventional acquisition stovepipes. This opportunity is an in-person/on-site position.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Strategic Studies, International Relations, Defense Analysis, or a related field, paired with 5+ years' relevant operational, analytical, or acquisition experience.
- Technology Passion & Ethos: Proven interest and technical literacy in AI, autonomy, uncrewed systems, and edge algorithms, matched with the courage to challenge established processes in pursuit of operational velocity.
- Lessons Learned & Operational Translation: Demonstrated success in capturing operational feedback, tactical data, or wargaming findings and converting them into actionable technical, programmatic, or organizational changes.
- Strategic Military Operations Acumen: In-depth understanding of U.S. Army operations, Joint Staff planning structures, COCOM theater campaigns, and multi-domain operations (MDO).
- Executive Communication: Proven track record of authoring persuasive strategic documents and delivering high-stakes briefings to senior military/civilian leadership (O-6/GO/SES level).
- An active Secret Security Clearance (Top Secret/SCI highly preferred).
Qualifications Desired:
- Military Experience: Prior service as a Field Grade Officer, Senior NCO, or civilian operational analyst with staff experience at the Division, Corps, ASCC, or Joint Staff/COCOM level (G-3, G-5, J-3, or J-5).
- Domain Mastery: Direct operational or technical background with Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (Group 1–3 UAS), Loitering Munitions / One-Way Attack (OWA) platforms, or air-launched payloads.
- Rapid Capability Transition: Experience working with rapid defense innovation hubs (e.g., DIU, RCCTO, DARPA, AFSWERX, or industry skunkworks).
Responsibilities:
- Operationalize & Institutionalize Lessons Learned: Directly support the Integration Cell Director in establishing rapid closed-loop feedback architectures. Systematically gather operational data, after-action reports (AARs), and combat observations from modern conflicts (e.g., Ukraine, INDOPACOM/EUCOM/CENTCOM operational environments) and translate them into immediate capability iterations, doctrine modifications, and programmatic pivots.
- Frontier Tech & AI Integration: Champion the integration of artificial intelligence, collaborative autonomy, dynamic mesh networking, and automated target recognition (ATR) into LE concepts of employment. Relentlessly identify opportunities to replace slow human-in-the-loop dependencies with resilient autonomous systems.
- Disruptive Mindset & System Defiance: Actively challenge outdated institutional planning dogmas, rigid requirement constructs, and sluggish fielding processes. Serve as a change-maker who advocates for speed-to-fleet over administrative perfection, leveraging agile methodologies and modular open systems architectures (MOSA).
- Strategic COCOM & Cross-Service Synchronization: Serve as the primary operational nexus between the LE Product Office, Combatant Commands, Army Service Component Commands (ASCCs), and Centers of Excellence (CoEs). Synchronize theater-specific operational demands and war-game findings directly into product office execution.
- Advanced CONOPS & TTP Codification: Drive the creation and refinement of cutting-edge Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) for uncrewed loitering munitions, collaborative reconnaissance-strike swarms, and attritable multi-domain launch platforms.
- Exercise & Experimentation Injection: Design and coordinate live operational injects, Table-Top Exercises (TTXs), and major theater demonstrations to stress-test LE systems in denied/degraded electronic warfare environments, validating real-world operational utility.
Senior Executive & Flag-Level Briefings: Distill complex operational insights and controversial lessons-learned analyses into executive decision packages, white papers, and risk-trade briefings for General Officers / Flag Officers (GO/FO) and Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders.
