Your Next Opportunity:
As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will independently manage and analyze project and operational costs, providing critical financial insights that drive profitability and inform strategic decisions across Rosendin. Your expertise in cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting directly supports the efficient delivery of complex electrical construction projects nationwide. You will play a vital role in upholding our financial integrity and contributing to our collective success as an employee-owned company.
What You'll Do:
- Develop, analyze, and maintain cost accounting systems and reports for project costs, labor, materials, and overhead.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, identifying key drivers and providing actionable recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to understand project scope, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure accurate cost tracking.
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely cost reports, including job cost analysis, profitability reports, and inventory valuations.
- Establish and enforce internal controls related to cost accounting processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes by providing robust cost data and analytical insights.
- Assist in financial statement preparation by providing accurate cost of goods sold and inventory valuations.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of cost accounting systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff on complex cost accounting principles and practices.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- Deep analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data and generate meaningful insights.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and specific expertise in construction cost accounting methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling for financial analysis.
- Experience working with modern ERP and accounting software systems, ideally in a construction or project-based environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, managing large volumes of financial transactions and data.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to both finance and non-finance personnel.
- Demonstrated independence and proactive initiative in managing responsibilities and identifying process improvements.
What You Bring to Us:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically in cost accounting within the construction industry.
- Proven experience in job costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting for complex projects.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Travel:
- Minimal travel required.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily in an office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; occasionally required to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
