Description
The Accountant Lead is a key contributor to the financial integrity and global reporting accuracy of Newfire’s organization. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Accountant Lead will oversee the accounting team and support the financial operations of a multinational organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with corporate accounting requirements, and the efficient execution of global accounting
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the international accounting team, ensuring high performance, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
- Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Oversee the consolidation of subsidiaries' financial results, ensuring accurate and timely integration of financial data across multiple business units and legal entities.
- Manage intercompany accounting activities, including the reconciliation and elimination of intercompany balances, transactions, and investments.
- Standardize and maintain reporting packages for subsidiaries to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with corporate accounting policies.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations, including vendor management, invoice processing, customer invoicing, and collections monitoring.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and support external audits, including the preparation of supporting schedules, responses to auditor inquiries, and maintenance of audit-ready documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages for senior leadership and board reporting purposes.
- Partner with the VP of Finance and other stakeholders to develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and alignment on business transactions.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce the overall close cycle for global consolidations.
- Support system implementations, process automation initiatives, and accounting transformation projects as required.
- Monitor key accounting metrics and proactively address risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with 5+years of experience within international company with cross-border operations
- Hands-on experience with multi-entity financial consolidation in an international environment, including intercompany eliminations, reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting.
- Proven experience with month-end close processes, AP/AR oversight, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Proficiency with accounting software or ERP systems
- Experience supporting external financial audits and preparing audit-ready documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- English Level B2-C1
