Business Development Executive
Reports To: Business Development Manager (BDM)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya, with travel to project sites and client meetings as required
Department: Commercial / Business Development
Salary: KES 150,000 gross per month
Application Deadline: 17 August 2026
Purpose of the Role
Our client is an established provider of integrated electronic security and safety systems, including surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, visitor management, parking management, and related solutions, serving clients across government, financial, commercial, and other sectors in Kenya and the region.
The Business Development Executive supports the Business Development Manager by driving ground-level lead generation, outreach, and coordination. This includes cold calling, setting up meetings, gathering project and market information, and supporting the preparation of quotations.
The role enables the Business Development Manager to focus on strategic, senior-level relationships with consultants, architects, project owners, and other key stakeholders. While this is a support role, the Business Development Executive also has an independent mandate to generate and progress credible leads and is accountable for converting opportunities into closed accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outbound cold calling and proactive outreach to identify and generate leads within target sectors and industries.
- Set up meetings and introductions for the Business Development Manager with consultants, architects, quantity surveyors, project owners, developers, and security managers.
- Conduct site visits, project sightings, and market canvassing to identify projects under construction or in the pipeline.
- Gather and provide timely, accurate ground-level information and market intelligence to support business development and pipeline strategy.
- Draft quotations in coordination with the presales team, based on site details, client requirements, and project specifications.
- Maintain and regularly update the CRM system with leads, contacts, activities, and opportunity status.
- Follow up on leads and maintain ongoing engagement with prospects to keep the pipeline active.
- Work independently to progress own leads through the sales process and convert qualified opportunities into business where appropriate.
- Support and progress leads originated by the Business Development Manager.
- Own delivery against agreed KPIs, including credible leads and contacts generated, meetings secured, opportunities progressed, and accounts converted.
- Provide coordination and administrative support to the Business Development Manager, including scheduling, documentation, and follow-through on action items.
- As the role develops, take ownership of a specific industry vertical where appropriate, building deeper sector knowledge, relationships, and contacts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in B2B business development, sales, sales support, telesales, or a related commercial role.
- Confident, persistent, and comfortable with outbound cold calling, prospecting, and fieldwork.
- Strong follow-up discipline, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Good verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline management.
- Comfortable working with quotation formats, gathering relevant data, and coordinating with presales teams on pricing inputs.
- Able to work effectively under the direction of the Business Development Manager while also taking independent ownership of leads and targets.
- Commercially driven, proactive, and comfortable working in a target-oriented environment.
- Added advantage: Prior exposure to the ELV (Extra Low Voltage), electronic security, surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, or related technology sectors will be an added advantage.
What the Client Offers
- KES 150,000 gross monthly salary.
- Product and technical training upon onboarding; prior security-systems product knowledge is not required.
- Direct mentorship from the Business Development Manager, with opportunities to grow into a more senior business development role.
- A collaborative, team-based working environment with strong support from business development, presales, and design teams.
- Exposure to major projects, clients, and stakeholders across the construction, infrastructure, commercial, and security sectors.
