SAP / IT Finance Software Engineer (ABAP)

## Major Purpose

Works on an agile product team and supports product design by planning its work, coordinating with others, and writing and testing code to deliver functionality for the complete product or products it supports. This level designs complex/significant parts of a system/sub-system or works on a complete product of a broad scope and solves well-defined problems with little guidance. May act as a work lead, providing technical coaching to other engineers and support personnel; Recognized as an expert user of critical technology; develops new software functionality for product development.

## Major Duties

• Develop existing applications and contribute to development of new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement. Develop new routine applications to meet customer requirements.
• Monitor, identify, and correct more complex software defects to maintain fully functioning applications software.
• Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.
• Design and oversee the functionality, usability, and accessibility of business-critical portals/websites using content creation and management tools as well as digital media to ensure that technical continuity is maintained and development standards are met.
• Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of the used technology, such as systems, processes, infrastructure, installations and machines.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a roadmap to facilitate application software development and ensure the development work is prioritized in line with business requirements.
• Provide fault isolation and resolution to limit and address issues promptly.
• Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
• Design distribution of basic database resources and provide physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance.

We are looking for a software engineer to help design, build, and evolve business-critical applications supporting John Deere's global Finance organization. This role is especially relevant for people with experience in SAP ABAP development, enterprise applications, integrations, business process automation, or SAP Finance platforms. You will work closely with Product Managers, IT Analysts, Architects, and business stakeholders to deliver capabilities that improve operational efficiency, data quality, and financial processes at global scale.

Your responsibilities:

• Build and enhance applications supporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reporting, and enterprise integrations.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy ABAP-based enhancements, interfaces, automations, reports, and technical components.
• Partner with Product Managers, IT Analysts, Architects, and business teams to translate requirements into reliable and maintainable technology solutions.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives involving S/4HANA, SAP BTP, cloud integrations, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Our requirements:

• Hands-on experience developing and supporting applications using SAP ABAP.
• Ability to understand business requirements and transform them into technical designs and implementations.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within cross-functional and international teams.

Nice to have:

• Understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Controlling, Treasury, Tax, reporting, or other financial processes.

• Exposure to S/4HANA, CDS Views, OData, Fiori/UI5, SAP BTP, APIs, IDocs, RFCs, or Integration Suite.

• Experience working in Agile product teams alongside analysts, architects, and business stakeholders.

• Experience with automation, DevOps practices, application lifecycle management, mentoring, or technical leadership.
