About the Role

Join the Bowel Health Service within the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer and play a key role in advancing innovative research that improves gastrointestinal health and colorectal cancer prevention. Working closely with the Chief Investigator and a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of impactful research projects, while building collaborations with academic, clinical and industry partners. This role offers the opportunity to lead elements of complex research programs, publish high-quality outcomes, support research funding applications, and mentor emerging researchers.

  • Drive the planning, coordination and delivery of gastrointestinal health research projects and clinical trials, ensuring milestones and key performance indicators are achieved.

  • Analyse and interpret complex research data, contribute to grant applications, and produce high-quality publications and conference presentations.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with researchers, clinicians, industry stakeholders and national and international networks.

  • Supervise honours and postgraduate research students while contributing to a culture of research excellence and innovation.

About You

You are a motivated and collaborative researcher with a strong track record of delivering high-quality health research and translating findings into meaningful outcomes. With expertise in clinical or public health research methodologies, including leading clinical trials and cohort studies, you are experienced in the collection and management of clinical, health and risk factor data, confident working with complex datasets, developing publications and funding applications, and building productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. You thrive in a team environment while demonstrating the initiative and independence required to drive research projects forward.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • A PhD in a health-related discipline, or equivalent research experience, with expertise relevant to medical sciences, gastroenterology, public health or epidemiology.

  • Demonstrated success in conducting and publishing high-quality research, securing research funding, and presenting findings at national and/or international forums.

  • Strong analytical skills, including experience managing large datasets, conducting statistical analyses, and using research and data management tools such as Excel, REDCap, R Studio, SPSS or STATA.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, supervising students, and engaging with industry and research partners.
