Description
A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Legal Manager to lead a national litigation function and provide strategic legal oversight within a fast-paced and highly regulated environment. This opportunity is ideal for a results-driven legal professional with strong litigation expertise, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex legal disputes while driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of litigation professionals, ensuring high performance and effective case management.
- Oversee complex litigation matters and manage a personal litigation portfolio.
- Drive the implementation of operational strategies, policies, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Manage external legal counsel and oversee appeals, urgent interdicts, reviews, and declaratory applications.
- Monitor governance, risk, compliance, and legal best practices within the litigation function.
- Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships while ensuring service delivery excellence.
- Manage budgets, resources, reporting, and operational performance within the legal function.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Law (LLB) (NQF 7) essential.
- 8–10 years’ experience within a litigation environment.
- 3–4 years’ experience managing legal staff.
- Strong litigation and legal advisory experience.
- Previous tax-related legal experience will be highly advantageous.
- Proven experience managing complex litigation projects.
- Excellent legal interpretation, communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, accountability, sound judgement, and business acumen.
