Public Affairs Communication Specialist

Salary Statement

Estimated Starting Salary Range: USD $136,850.00/Yr. - USD $228,100.00/Yr. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Description

SRC is seeking a Public Affairs Communication Specialist to support our Department of War (DoW) customer in Alexandria, VA. Duties may include the following:

• Communicating internally with the project team
• Communicating externally with stakeholders including Military Services, other DoW organizations, and industry performers
• Developing and implementing strategic communications plans and public affairs guidance
• Developing website and/or social media content, press releases, etc.
• Acting as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders to ensure aligned messaging and coordinate communications 
• Coordinating and tracking approvals for public release within the project team and up the Department approval chain
• Other public affairs / communications duties as required

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in communications
• 5+ years of experience in DoW communications and/or DoW public affairs
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans and public affairs guidance
• Experience drafting, editing, publishing, coordinating, and distributing public affairs content including press releases and website/social media content
• Experience researching and developing content for emerging technology and weapon systems
• Experience working with a wide range of contributors including engineers, subject matter experts, functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Familiarity with Department of War style guides
• Military Assistant and/or military Public Affairs Officer experience a plus
• Experience working at the Pentagon a plus
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the year
• Active Secret Clearance
