Description
At APM Terminals, our infrastructure is the foundation that keeps terminal operations running safely and efficiently, 24 hours a day. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be the primary technical owner of the terminal’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the availability, security, and performance of business-critical systems that support terminal operations.
This is a hands-on technical role within the Technical Programme Delivery team. While it has no direct people management responsibilities, you will serve as the local infrastructure subject matter expert, collaborating with regional teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable IT services and continuous improvements.
What you’ll own
- Own the day-to-day operation, health, and lifecycle of the terminal’s IT infrastructure.
- Manage and support Cisco network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, and network security components.
- Administer VMware virtualization environments, Windows Server platforms, compute, storage, and backup infrastructure.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively identify risks before they impact operations.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of infrastructure incidents across L1, L2, and L3 support levels.
- Manage infrastructure changes, upgrades, patching, and technology refresh activities.
- Ensure infrastructure availability and resilience to support 24/7 terminal operations.
- Work closely with regional infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, technical standards, and operational procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
What we’re looking for
- 4+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a similar technical role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking, including Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, routing, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience administering VMware virtualization platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Experience with enterprise storage, backup, and server hardware.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar solutions.
- Experience working with IT Service Management processes using ServiceNow or comparable platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to manage critical incidents independently.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Intermediate English (B2) or higher.
- CCNP Enterprise (preferred); CCIE is considered an advantage.
What success looks like
In this role, you will:
- Maintain high infrastructure availability and operational resilience.
- Resolve incidents efficiently while minimizing business impact.
- Deliver secure, stable, and well-documented infrastructure services.
- Build trusted relationships with operational teams and regional IT colleagues.
- Continuously improve infrastructure through standardization, automation, and proactive maintenance.
Nice to have
- Experience within ports, logistics, manufacturing, industrial, or other mission-critical operational environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and infrastructure hardening.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions, cloud platforms, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
Why join us?
Join one of the world’s leading port and logistics organizations, where technology is essential to keeping global trade moving. You’ll have ownership of critical infrastructure, work alongside regional and global experts, and play a direct role in delivering secure, resilient, and reliable IT services that support around-the-clock terminal operations.
