Role Overview
Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the Procurement and Inventory functions, managing a small team while partnering closely with sales, operations, finance and branch managers nationally. You'll be responsible for developing and executing the procurement strategy, strengthening supplier partnerships, improving inventory performance and embedding commercial discipline across the business.
This is a genuine transformation opportunity. The business is looking for an experienced procurement leader who can move the function beyond transactional purchasing to become a strategic commercial partner. You'll drive long-term supplier relationships, improve forecasting and governance, identify commercial opportunities and deliver sustainable margin improvements across a complex national operation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the procurement strategy, positioning Procurement as a key commercial function across the business.
- Lead supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing and commercial agreements to maximise margin, rebates and long-term value.
- Build trusted partnerships with branch managers, executive leaders and suppliers to improve collaboration and commercial outcomes.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing procurement and inventory team while driving accountability and continuous improvement.
- Improve procurement governance, forecasting, reporting and inventory performance through stronger commercial processes.
- Identify and deliver initiatives that improve operational efficiency, supplier performance and overall business profitability.
Candidate Profile
You are a commercially astute procurement leader with a proven track record of driving business performance through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and procurement transformation. Ideally, you will have gained your experience within the construction, building products, industrial distribution, manufacturing or a closely related industry, where you've successfully managed complex supplier networks and commercial procurement strategies. You understand how Procurement can influence profitability beyond purchasing alone and have experience developing supplier partnerships, improving forecasting and embedding commercial discipline across a business.
