About Sentara

Sentara Health is an integrated, not-for-profit health care delivery system with more than 135 years in pursuit of its mission: we improve health every day. Sentara exists to be the trusted partner to individuals and the community in their journey to improved health and well-being, and is one of the largest health systems in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, with 12 hospitals across Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina.

Everything we do is guided by our core values: People, Quality, Patient Safety, Service, and Integrity. As the Talent Acquisition Manager over Nurse Recruitment, you'll live these values daily by building the nursing workforce that makes our mission possible.

Why This Role Matters

As one of two Talent Acquisition Managers over Nurse Recruitment, you'll help shape the operational foundation of our nursing talent strategy, ensuring we attract, engage, and hire exceptional RNs and nursing professionals across our system. We hire over 2,100 nurses each year, and you'll co-lead a team of 20 to 25 nurse recruiters driving that volume. In a healthcare landscape where nursing talent is one of the most competitive and mission-critical hires an organization makes, this role is central to our ability to deliver quality, safe patient care in the communities we serve.

Job Summary

The Talent Acquisition Manager, Nurse Recruitment is responsible for planning, developing, managing, and overseeing operational Talent Acquisition staff and system-wide recruitment initiatives dedicated to nursing roles. This position co-leads a team of 20 to 25 nurse recruiters and owns all full-time, part-time, flexipool, and temporary nurse hiring across the system, supporting more than 2,100 nurse hires annually.

This Manager leads the operational framework for the nurse recruitment strategy, establishing programs and policies that drive contemporary, data-informed practices tailored to the realities of clinical hiring, including licensure requirements, specialty pipelines, and competitive nursing labor markets. This position serves as an influential advisor who understands evolving clinical staffing needs and stakeholder expectations, translating them into innovative sourcing and recruitment strategies.

The Manager builds and maintains the organization's employer brand within the nursing community, owns workforce planning for nursing hiring needs, and tracks key metrics such as time to fill, cost per hire, and quality of hire for nursing roles, using that data to continuously strengthen team performance.

This role influences outcomes and communicates closely with Talent Acquisition Advisors, Consultants, and Specialists focused on nurse recruitment, sharing best practices and modeling a customer-focused approach to understanding the needs of nursing leaders and hiring managers. The Manager oversees the effective attraction, screening, selection, and development of a high-performing, diverse, and sustainable nursing talent pipeline that supports safe staffing levels and quality patient outcomes at scale.
