Job Description Summary

Job Description

Do you want to play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge energy infrastructure by leading high-impact site operations for our Grid Solutions team?

GE Vernova is looking for an exceptional Site Manager to join our Construction & Commissioning team based in the United Kingdom.

GE Vernova - The Energy to Change the World

With over 130 years of experience and proven innovation, GE Vernova is leading a new era of energy. We are electrifying the world while working to decarbonize it. Our name reflects our mission. “GE” carries a legacy of quality and ingenuity. “Ver” signals Earth’s lush ecosystems, while “Nova” nods to a new era of lower-carbon energy we are helping to deliver.

Focused on the future, GE Vernova is accelerating the shift to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. We help customers power economies and deliver electricity vital to health, safety, and quality of life.

Electrification

Our Electrification solutions modernize grids, enable renewable integration, and strengthen energy systems. From software to power conversion and storage, we help create smarter, more resilient energy networks.

Let’s Talk about the Role

The Site Manager will oversee the technical integrity, safety, and quality of our high-voltage AIS and GIS projects.

You will act as the heartbeat of our on-site operations, managing the successful installation, maintenance, and commissioning of critical infrastructure. By bridging the gap between our product units and our clients, you will ensure every project meets our rigorous standards while fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and collaborative problem-solving across the field team.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Leading field operations, overseeing daily management and task allocation to maximize project success.
  • Ensuring the overall quality and technical integrity of GIS and AIS installation, maintenance, and commissioning processes.
  • Collaborating with product units and clients as the primary point of contact to resolve product or installation issues.
  • Managing the identification, reporting, and resolution of nonconformities to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Fostering a culture of safety on-site, promoting best practices and strict compliance with regulations like the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Developing accurate records and quality documentation to ensure adherence to internal governance and safety standards.

Special Role Requirements

  • Able to travel extensively to and from projects and various field assignments across the UK.
  • Willing to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments.
  • Ability to spend considerable time away from home for training and field assignments.

Skills for Success

You should be a hands-on leader who is passionate about high-voltage infrastructure, with:

  • The ability to lead field operations, including task delegation with subcontractors and various project stakeholders.
  • The capability to manage quality assurance processes, including identifying and documenting nonconformities.
  • An understanding of regulatory frameworks and safety standards, particularly the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • An expertise in clear communication, allowing you to plan, execute, and report on complex projects effectively.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in substation primary plant construction and installation, including AIS/GIS equipment.

A formal education in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (such as City & Guilds, ONC, HND, or equivalent) is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

Where and how you'll work

This is a permanent position based on-site at various client locations across the UK.

Our Culture

Every action shapes our future. That’s why our north star is a culture of impact, where everyone is empowered to thrive and achieve.

Addressing the urgent need to build a more sustainable electric power system while improving the trajectory of climate change emissions are global priorities, and we take our responsibility seriously. That is our mission at GE Vernova: continuing to electrify to thrive and decarbonize the world. We play a significant role in leading a new era of energy.

Our technology helps generate approximately twenty-five percent of the world’s electricity today, and we are working to power the rest. If we want the future of energy to be different, then join us and be the difference. Together, we are the Energy of Change!

We're determined to be the best place to grow

We believe that strong careers are built on a variety of experiences, strong connections, and continuous development. We’re committed to providing you the tools to navigate and shape a strong career journey that aligns with a healthy work-life balance.
