Location: Seacoast New Hampshire (Hybrid/Remote as applicable)
Reports to: Chief Growth Officer

Our client is a large national insurance agency alliance that supports a network of independent member agencies with market access, growth resources, and training.
Job Summary
The Director of Training & Learning develops and executes the organization's learning and development strategy across its distribution network, including member agencies, field teams, and internal employees. This role oversees the design, curation, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs that support recruitment, onboarding, growth, retention, sales performance, leadership development, and operational excellence. The Director serves as a strategic business partner to senior leadership and will lead the evolution of the organization's Training & Learning Center, with measurable learning outcomes tied to agency growth and organizational performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with corporate objectives and growth initiatives
- Lead all field training, learning, professional development, and knowledge management programs
- Partner with senior leadership to identify capability gaps and create learning solutions
- Set annual training priorities, budgets, performance metrics, and success measures
- Evolve the Training & Learning Center into a best-in-class educational resource
Curriculum Development and Learning Design
- Direct learning pathways for new member onboarding, growth-focused agencies, master agency personnel, internal employees, growth coaches and recruiters, producer development, agency operations, and sales and recruiting effectiveness
- Ensure content reflects industry best practices and carrier partner requirements
- Oversee instructional design standards for classroom, virtual, self-paced, and blended programs
- Keep content current, relevant, and aligned with business needs
Agency Growth and Performance
- Develop training that supports agency growth, profitability, and market access utilization
- Partner with Growth, Recruiting, Operations, and Strategic Partnership teams on targeted programs
- Support initiatives that increase member engagement, retention, and production
Learning Technology and Innovation
- Provide strategic oversight of LMS and related learning technologies
- Evaluate and implement emerging learning technologies, AI tools, and engagement solutions
- Set standards for digital content, video production, and virtual delivery
- Use data and analytics to drive continuous improvement
Program Delivery and Facilitation
- Lead delivery of high-impact training programs
- Facilitate and present at onboarding sessions, boot camps, conferences, workshops, and learning events
- Coordinate internal and external instructors, consultants, carrier partners, and vendors
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
- Develop learning effectiveness metrics and dashboards
- Track participation, completion, satisfaction, knowledge retention, and business outcomes
- Measure ROI of learning programs and report to executive leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Training & Development, or a related field; master's preferred
- 8+ years of progressive learning and development experience
- 5+ years leading training, learning, or organizational development functions
- Experience building enterprise learning strategies and large-scale training initiatives
- Experience managing LMS and digital learning platforms
- Proven success building programs tied to measurable business outcomes
- Insurance industry experience strongly preferred; agency operations, carrier relations, sales development, or distribution experience highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in adult learning theory and instructional design
- Strong curriculum development and content creation skills
- Exceptional public speaking and facilitation abilities
- Ability to translate business objectives into effective learning initiatives
- Strong project management, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, PowerPoint, LMS platforms, Camtasia, Articulate 360, Captivate, video creation platforms, and AI-enabled learning tools
Preferred Certifications
- CPTD or ATD certification
- Instructional Design certification
- PMP
- Insurance designations (CIC, CISR, CPIA, CRM, etc.) a plus
Work Environment
Professional office environment with periodic travel for conferences, master agency meetings, member events, and training workshops.
