Overview
The Training Manager ensures all residential managers and staff are fully equipped, competent, and supported to run high-quality Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) programs. This role focuses on building a structured, competency-based training pipeline so managers possess the exact knowledge and tools required for operational success. Operating under a servant leadership philosophy, this position prioritizes serving, supporting, and empowering staff teams to drive deep engagement for both employees and the individuals we support.

Responsibilities
- Model and instill a servant leadership culture across all training programs, shifting the managerial mindset from enforcement to support, empathy, and employee empowerment.
- Infuse training curricula with strategies that promote the active, meaningful engagement and autonomy of the individuals we support.
- Train leadership on staff engagement and retention techniques to build strong, cohesive, and motivated residential teams.
- Champion person-centered care values across all training modules and organizational levels.
- Design and launch a comprehensive onboarding and training program specifically for all new residential managers.
- Develop competency-based testing models to objectively measure and verify manager readiness.
- Create practical "Quick Guides" for critical operational needs, explicitly outlining who to call for what and the allotted timeframes for escalation.
- Bridge the gap between theoretical compliance regulations and daily on-the-ground operational execution.
- Partner with Behavioral, Medical, and Operational teams to identify and support existing managers who require targeted skill-building in specific areas.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) to convert audit deficiencies, medication variances, and incident trends into immediate, actionable retraining modules.
- Build professional growth tracks to cultivate the skills of high-potential staff interested in internal advancement.
- Evaluate and overhaul the existing Tier 2 training framework to maximize engagement and practical skill building.
- Provide strategic oversight for Senior Associate training tracks to prepare them for future leadership roles.
- Develop and implement systems to collect continuous feedback from training participants to evaluate course effectiveness and drive iterative improvements.
- Own and manage the training pipeline within UKG Pro Learning, utilizing it as the primary system of record for tracking completion rates and feedback data.
- Source and integrate external training materials from platforms including Relias, LinkedIn Learning, and industry-specific resources.
- Ensure all training curricula comply with current state IDD licensing, Medicaid, HCBS waivers, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and mentor one Operations Coordinator, delegating administrative tasks, UKG data entry, and course scheduling.
Salary range $79K-$95K
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, or a related field required OR 5 years of leadership experience within IDD residential or HCBS programs and training.
- Proven track record of designing training programs, curricula, or competency assessments.
Skills & Knowledge
- Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership principles and a supportive, team-first management style.
- System proficiency with UKG Pro (Learning/LMS) and specialized platforms like Relias is highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of IDD residential regulations, clinical/behavioral intersections, and quality assurance standards.
- Expertise in instructional design, survey methodology (for feedback collection), and creating simplified escalation workflows.
- Strong data literacy with the ability to track completion metrics and translate user feedback into program improvements.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence to build trust across clinical, medical, and operational departments.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Frequent travel between residential program sites is required
- Ability to deliver training directly inside active residential group home settings.
- Capability to sit or stand for extended periods while facilitating classroom or virtual training sessions.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds (training materials, equipment).
