Finance, Planning, and Budgeting (FPB) has an outstanding opportunity for an Grant Analyst to join their Grant and Contract Accounting (GCA) team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Grant and Contract Accounting (GCA) Grant Manager, the Grant Analyst serves as a customer service resource working independently to support campus departments, UW central offices, and research sponsors through the analysis of post-award business operations, administrative processes, and program activities. Duties include examining and analyzing fiscal and administrative records, institutional practices and procedures, and operational data to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, support decision-making, and develop recommendations that improve service delivery and business processes.
The Grant Analyst develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with university departments, researchers, and sponsors to provide consultation and operational support within Grant & Contract Accounting. Customer service responsibilities include managing and monitoring service requests, evaluating customer service trends, and analyzing operational performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement, increased efficiency, and enhanced stakeholder support.
The position regularly performs professional-level analysis of complex and non-routine program operations requiring independent judgment in evaluating information, identifying issues, developing recommendations, and implementing solutions. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing operational issues, interpreting policies and procedures, evaluating business processes, assessing program outcomes, supporting strategic and operational initiatives, and providing consultative services to management and program stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field and three years of demonstrated experience in fiscal management and/or financial analysis, program analysis, business operations, process improvement, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree
- Ability to maintain the customer service work schedule of 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday
- Computer proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, databases, reporting tools, and data analysis applications in a Windows environment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate to others complex policies and procedures
- Proven leadership and excellent communication skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated presentation development and presentation skills to large groups
- Demonstrated experience working in a large, highly structured environment
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
- Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and effectively address complex and sensitive administrative issues
- Demonstrated experience in successful handling of multiple projects with critical deadlines
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making process
- Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups, stakeholders, and teams; collaborative, inclusive, and service-oriented leadership style and the ability to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork
Desired
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Participated in a work environment using Lean or a similar structured process improvement effort
