EHS Technician Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for championing and supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a safety-first culture at the plant.  This position will also provide valuable feedback to Supervisors and Managers regarding program effectiveness and engagement within the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Champion EHS compliance program(s) that promote a safety-first culture throughout the facility. 
• Conduct safety and regulatory site inspections and observations.
• Create, revise, and update safety material.
• Maintain all record keeping associated with compliance program(s).
• Communicate progress with plant leadership.
• Oversee the safety orientation program.
• Coach employees and give feedback as needed regarding safety and compliance.
• Lead safety committee.
• Occasional travel required for additional training and/or best-practice sharing.
• Flexible schedule with all shifts weekly, and as needed.
• Help execute the site safety plan with attention to OSHA-compliance.
• Perform tasks assigned by leadership.
• Able to foster professionalism with all team members along with internal and external customers.
• Work safely and compliantly in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices of unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable safety, health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately. 

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Participate in peer-based teams, and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as LOTO and Machine Guarding assessments.  
• Lead or participate with the Safety Team to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Lead or participate on project teams and kaizen events when needed.
• Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role
