Description
The ideal candidate is a highly capable infrastructure professional who can operate independently, troubleshoot complex technical issues, contribute to architecture and technology strategy, and provide guidance to less-experienced engineers.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of infrastructure technologies while contributing to the reliability, security, and ongoing evolution of enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Engineering
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including identity, security, collaboration, and related cloud services.
- Support Microsoft 365 environments across commercial and regulated government cloud environments, including GCC and GCC-High.
- Configure and manage enterprise firewalls, including firewall rules, VPNs, security policies, and related security controls.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Microsoft Power Automate workflows.
- Deploy, monitor, test, and remediate enterprise backup solutions.
- Administer enterprise switching and networking infrastructure, including VLANs, routing, and network segmentation.
- Manage on-premises and datacenter infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving hardware, operating system, application, and connectivity issues.
- Administer Windows and Linux server environments across physical, virtual, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure.
- Help ensure infrastructure environments meet established availability, performance, and service-level objectives.
Security & Compliance
- Partner with security teams to identify, investigate, remediate, and prevent infrastructure vulnerabilities.
- Apply security best practices throughout infrastructure design, implementation, and configuration.
- Support security, compliance, and audit initiatives as needed.
- Help maintain infrastructure in accordance with applicable security and compliance standards.
Architecture & Technology Strategy
- Establish and maintain infrastructure technology standards, configurations, and best practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations based on business requirements, security, scalability, and long-term value.
- Participate in technology evaluations and build-vs.-buy decisions.
- Contribute to infrastructure architecture and modernization initiatives.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other technical team members.
- Work with project managers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to translate requirements into effective infrastructure solutions.
- Collaborate with external vendors, technology partners, and other third parties.
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach when working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage multiple priorities while working independently with limited day-to-day supervision.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure engineering.
- Strong experience administering Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Demonstrated experience with on-premises and hybrid Microsoft Active Directory environments.
- Experience with enterprise virtualization technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Strong experience with Windows Server 2016–2025, Windows 11, and Linux environments.
- Experience administering enterprise firewall platforms, including SonicWall or comparable technologies.
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms, including Pure Storage or comparable technologies.
- Hands-on experience deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediating Veeam, Veeam ONE, and Veeam 365 backup environments.
- Experience with HPE Aruba or comparable enterprise networking platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and take ownership of technical issues through resolution.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as AZ-500, MS-500, or equivalent.
- SonicWall SNSA/SNSPA or comparable firewall certifications.
- Aruba or other enterprise networking certifications.
- Previous experience working in an MSP or managed services environment.
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, ISO 20000-1, or ISO 27001.
- Experience supporting environments with heightened security, regulatory, or compliance requirements.
