As an intern supporting our Laurel Highlands Heart Ball and Blair Go Red for Women Events, as well as our Central PA Women of Impact Campaign, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives.

 

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:

• Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
• Internship Duration: 1/25/27-5/7/27​
• Location: Remote Central PA. Travel to events in Blair and Cambria Counties.
• Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Event Planning & Support: 

• Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing pre-event logistics, and on-site event management for multiple community events. 

Event Participant Outreach & Engagement:  

• Conduct pre-event outreach to attendees of social events and members of giving societies such as Cor Vitae and Circle of Red membership. 

Sponsor Support:  

• Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders. 

Data & Reporting:  

• Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes. 

Administrative Support:  

• Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies. 

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management. 
• Highly skilled with Canva. Basic Adobe experience. 
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising. 
• Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.  
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff. 
• Effective oral and presentation communication skills. 
• Proficient in multiple social media platforms. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities. 
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. 
• Reliable transportation to and throughout Central PA, specifically, Blair and Cambria Counties.  
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.  For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
