Position Summary
Dark Matter Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer / Analyst to join our Engineering Quality organization. This role is responsible for leading quality assurance activities across multiple products and initiatives, ensuring software solutions meet functional, performance, reliability, and customer expectations.
The Senior QA Engineer / Analyst serves as a quality leader within Agile delivery teams and is expected to work independently while partnering closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams. This role participates in test strategy development, test automation initiatives, defect prevention efforts, and continuous improvement programs that improve overall software quality and delivery efficiency.
The Senior QA Engineer / Analyst also provides mentoring and guidance to junior QA engineers while helping drive adoption of quality engineering best practices across the organization.
The position aligns to Dark Matter's QA career ladder between QA Engineer / Analyst and Staff QA Engineer / Analyst.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership
- Lead testing efforts for complex software projects, releases, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop comprehensive test strategies and execution plans for assigned product areas.
- Evaluate business and technical requirements to identify quality risks and testing needs.
- Champion quality engineering best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in release readiness reviews and production deployment validations.
Test Planning & Execution
- Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, API, system, and end-to-end testing.
- Create and maintain test plans, test scripts, test data, and testing documentation.
- Analyze test results and communicate quality status to stakeholders.
- Ensure comprehensive validation of new features, enhancements, integrations, and defect fixes.
Defect Management & Quality Improvement
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production and UAT defects.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve defect prevention and early quality detection.
- Analyze recurring quality trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Support continuous process and quality improvements.
Test Automation
- Develop and maintain automated testing assets and regression suites.
- Expand test automation coverage across applications and services.
- Partner with engineering teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Identify opportunities to increase testing efficiency through automation and tooling.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Partner with engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams throughout project lifecycles.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to QA Engineers / Analysts and junior team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of software quality assurance, software testing, or quality engineering experience.
- Embraces an AI-First mentality when it comes to software testing
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
- Experience developing and executing comprehensive test strategies and plans.
- Experience with manual and automated testing methodologies.
- Strong defect analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience working with test management and defect tracking tools.
- Experience validating APIs, databases, integrations, and enterprise applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and quality engineering tools.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or comparable Agile work management platforms.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- SQL and database validation experience.
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of performance, load, and reliability testing concepts.
- Experience within mortgage technology, fintech, banking, or financial services environments.
- Experience mentoring QA teams.
- Playwright, JavaScript, Selenium WebDriver, C#, Page Object Model

Success Measures
During the first 12 months, the Senior QA Engineer / Analyst will:
- Successfully lead quality efforts for key product releases and strategic initiatives.
- Increase test coverage through improved automation and testing practices.
- Reduce escaped defects and improve release quality metrics.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for critical issues.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of Dark Matter products and business workflows.
- Serve as a trusted quality advisor to Engineering and Product teams.
- Mentor junior QA team members and contribute to department-wide quality improvements.
The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite from the Sharon, PA or Jacksonville, FL office 3 days per week.
