UW Medical Center-Montlake – 8SE Outpatient Infusion and 8SE Gynecology Oncology Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a Nurse Manager.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Full time / 100% FTE
- Primarily day shifts Monday-Friday
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
8SE Outpatient Infusion has 14 infusion chairs and provides care to both UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson patients. Patients receive antibiotics, chemotherapy, transfusions, or symptom management in any phase of their treatment course. 8SE is a nursing-led unit and is staffed exclusively with chemo-certified RNs. This department is actively involved in innovative clinical research, including research focused on the development and evaluation of new cancer treatments administered within the infusion setting.
8SE Gynecology Oncology is an outpatient clinic offering comprehensive treatment for cancers and pre-invasive disease in the reproductive system, including uterine, cervical, vaginal, endometrial, ovarian and vulvar cancers and gestational trophoblastic disease.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs and oversees day-to-day and strategic department operations
- Manages an estimated 37 employees, including Registered Nurses, Assistant Nurse Managers, Medical Assistants, Patient Care Coordinators, and Patient Services Specialists
- Works in partnership with the Associate Director of Infusion, the Assistant Administrator for Ambulatory Care, the Ambulatory Nursing Director, and the 8SE Medical Directors
- Develops and assesses employee skills, monitors and manages employee performance, and completes timekeeping responsibilities
- Acts as an expert resource when staff encounter problems or questions
- Takes corrective action when employee performance is not acceptable
- Plans and implements programs to meet targeted patient volumes
- Oversees quality assurance and safety standards
- Works to continually improve the quality of our services
- Ensures that the units operate in a cost-effective manner
- When needed, directly administers infusions to patients
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
- BLS
- An oncology certification such as an OCN, or a willingness to obtain an oncology certification
- Oncology or infusion room experience is highly preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
