REACH Health Services, of the Institutes for Behavior Resources, Inc. (IBR), is seeking a Healthcare Operations Specialist. We believe that exceptional patient care starts with exceptional support. We're seeking a highly organized, customer-focused  to be a welcoming face of our clinic while supporting vital administrative, insurance, and billing operations that help patients access the care they need. 


This is a dynamic role for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and takes pride in creating positive experiences for patients and staff alike. You'll collaborate closely with clinical, front office, and billing teams to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality service delivery.


As Healthcare Operations Specialist, you will:

  • Welcome patients and visitors and help create a positive, supportive clinic experience.
  • Coordinate front office and clinic workflows while serving as a communication hub among staff and providers.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and coverage requirements.
  • Maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information in electronic systems.
  • Identify and resolve insurance-related issues that may affect patient care or reimbursement.
  • Educate patients about insurance coverage, billing processes, and financial responsibilities.
  • Assist with claims management, payment posting, account reconciliation, and patient billing activities.
  • Maintain medical records and ensure accurate documentation in electronic health records.
  • Manage scheduling, appointment reminders, intake materials, and administrative processes.
  • Support a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Work Schedule:

This is a 40 hour/week, full-time, non-exempt position working on-site, Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm. 


Pay & Benefits:

In compliance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, IBR is committed to providing transparent wage information for all posted job opportunities. This pay rate for this position is $21-28/hour. Compensation is determined based on factors such as licensure, education, experience, and internal equity.

Requirements

 Required Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of administrative, accounting, medical billing, collections, or healthcare operations experience, preferably in a healthcare or human services setting.

Other Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to problem-solve and coordinate across teams to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and other technology platforms.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive care and collaboration in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by regulatory agencies.
  • All IBR/REACH employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
