Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Your Impact:

The Naval Business has requirement for Senior Project Manager to cover some development and technical refresh projects delivering a UK MOD Strategic Capability.  The projects are required to deliver enhanced capability, under tight timescales and requiring strong team leadership, customer and supply chain engagement.  This role includes coverage of future business growth/planning as well as delivery of individual Strategic programmes. This role will report directly to the Head of Programmes - Naval Communications.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for customer relationship and stakeholder management and be accountable for financial performance to the agreed business targets for the area. The Senior PM will also be expected to demonstrate exemplar values & high standards in all their work and be a role model within the business.  The Senior PM will also be expected to support the 6 Naval Foundations for our future success supporting our strategic growth.

  What is required from you: -

  • Looking after customers and meeting commitments on all Naval related business & projects.
  • Understanding their customers’ requirements for current and future developments/projects.
  • Championing the Naval Comms Team contributions to the wider Naval programmes as well as being a clear voice of the customer into the local team
  • Evaluate customer’s future requirements and develop a balanced plan for future business aligned with the wider business strategy/roadmaps.
  • Work with the Naval Comms IPT Lead to ensure a clear view of future resources, skills and investment are captured and planned for. (including but not limited to supporting monthly Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) process).
  • Providing inputs to product roadmaps through exploitation of technology and products developed under Naval projects
  • Understanding the market in which their business area operates
  • Input to annual business planning activities
  • Supporting the Naval Comms IPT Lead into the Capability function to produce and action business/strategy plans for their business area
  • Providing leadership to their IPTs
  • Provide inputs to PDRs for members of their IPTs
  • Working together to agree business & resourcing priorities
  • Monthly review of project performance
  • Supporting the Naval Comms IPT Lead in providing Monthly management reporting on progress against business objectives and plans within their business area

What You'll Bring:

  • An ability to foster and build strong relationships with Customers, Partners and key Suppliers.
  • Ability to influence and motivate large-scale project/programme teams (direct/indirect management).
  • An ability to apply professional concepts in creative ways.
  • Be capable of interacting with technical experts from a variety of disciplines and should be prepared to challenge and seek further justification where necessary. 
  • Confident and experienced at presenting clearly to a variety of stakeholders within the leadership structure (internally and externally).
  • Facilitate problem solving and resolve conflicts within the team.
  • Negotiate at all levels within the business as well as with customers and possess a strong sense of commercial awareness.
  • Wide-ranging knowledge and experience of Leonardo project lifecycle.
  • Be capable of leading bid activities forward in a clear, structured manner providing bid management direction and engagement with the bid team to meet customer requirements.
  • Commercial and financial acumen and negotiation skills.
