SENIOR COMMERCIAL ASSOCIATE

The Position
Grid United has numerous large scale transmissions projects underway and is currently identifying and studying additional prospective projects across North America. With patient capital backing and led by experienced energy veterans, Grid United is in a fast-growth stage, boasting a purpose-built team of motivated and entrepreneurial talent. We are particularly focused on effective stakeholder engagement and positive involvement with communities in areas where we are working. Our growing team is seeking to add an Associate for the Commercial team to support projects throughout their lifecycle with analysis and market expertise that illustrates their value propositions, which will be used to inform internal decision making and customer interactions. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Commercial and will be located in Houston.

Key Responsibilities
Data Room Management
• Run coordination with SMEs to update data room on a quarterly basis
• Create clear and auditable process for data room updates
• Identify dependencies and gaps needed to complete tasks
• Lead responses to customer info requests and due diligence questions
Power Market Analytics
• Proactively research regulated and deregulated electricity markets; utility and ISO/RTO planning; and use that knowledge to find new ways to demonstrate the value of interregional transmission.
• Solve data gaps and nuances through collaboration with Commercial Analytics team
• Synthesize insights into clear and compelling visuals and text
Customer Relationships
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute logistics behind customer meetings
• Coordinate both prep work for and follow ups from meetings, tracking action items and deadlines
• Support SMEs with modeling, slide deck development, etc.
• Track IRP development and working groups to learn customer pain points and inform how the team crafts its project value proposition/pitch decks
• Develop utility and power market analysis tools for the team that improve our understanding of customer needs and market fundamentals
Contract Development
• Coordinate with legal team to generate first drafts of MOUs and NDAs

Desired Experience and Skills
• 3+ years work experience with a strong track record of success. We are very open to candidates with Peace Corps, and veteran, or other public service experience.
• Bachelors in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or any related field.
• Develop data into clear analyses in a highly productive manner.
• Proactively learn relevant market dynamics and fundamentals, as well as project economics , and ask lots of good questions.
• Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently with constant regard for timeliness, accuracy and quality.
• Strong writing skills, including both technical and persuasive writing.
• Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and uncertainty, and project changes.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small, nonhierarchical organization.
• Positive, professional, and energetic team-oriented attitude.
• Willing to travel up to 20% of time.
