Data Engineering Manager

CPI Security, a national leader in residential and commercial security solutions, is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to help lead our data transformation. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building modern data solutions while mentoring and guiding a small team of data engineers. This role is on-site in Charlotte, NC.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and mentor data engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, pair programming, and best-practice sharing.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, data models, and analytics-ready datasets using Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL, and AWS.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
• Support the modernization of CPI’s data platform, including migration from legacy on-premises SQL Server and SSIS environments to Snowflake.
• Design and build data marts using dimensional modeling to support reporting, BI, and analytics needs.
• Implement data quality checks, testing, monitoring, and deployment automation across the data pipeline lifecycle.
• Help define practical engineering standards for data modeling, development, documentation, security, and performance.
• Support DataOps practices including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, access controls, and secure data sharing.

What We’re Looking For:

Required Experience

• 6+ years of data engineering experience, including cloud data platforms.
• 4+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.
• 4+ years of dbt experience, Cloud or Core.
• 4+ years of Python development experience.
• 4+ years of AWS experience.
• Experience building data warehouses, data marts, and production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong SQL and dimensional modeling experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated deployments, and data quality testing.
• Experience mentoring junior or mid-level data engineers.
• Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership.

Technical Skills

• Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL, AWS.
• SQL Server and SSIS experience preferred, especially in migration environments.
• Data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or similar.
• Data modeling, data warehousing, and analytics engineering best practices.
• Data governance, security, RBAC, monitoring, and compliance concepts.
• Agile or Scrum experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Developer or related AWS certification.
• Snowflake certification.
• Experience with modern BI and analytics platforms.
• Prior experience supporting cloud data platform migrations.
