Catalent’s Chelsea, Massachusetts site—often referred to as the Boston location—is a global Center of Excellence for spray dry dispersion (SDD) and dry powder inhaler (DPI) capsule manufacturing and packaging, supporting inhalation drug products from clinical development through commercial launch. Located at 190 Everett Avenue, the approximately 96,000‑square‑foot GMP facility features ISO 8 production suites, high‑potency containment capabilities, and advanced spray drying equipment, including multiple large‑scale GMP spray dryers. The site offers integrated services such as powder processing, capsule filling, blister packaging, and on‑site quality control and analytical testing, with capacity to produce up to 100 million capsules annually. Strategically positioned just minutes from Boston Logan International Airport and within the Greater Boston life sciences hub, the Chelsea site plays a critical role in Catalent’s global inhalation network and regulatory‑compliant manufacturing operations.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Supervisor, Manufacturing to join our team. In this role, you will manage daily production activities for clinical and commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing operations related to spray drying. You will lead by setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, and supporting your team through coaching and feedback. This position works closely with the Management team to ensure compliance with policies and procedures while driving operational excellence.

Shift: 2/2/3 Work Rotation - 6:00pm - 6:00am
Location: Chelsea, MA
100% Onsite

The Role

• Maintain workflow by monitoring process steps, controlling production activities to processing parameters, and overseeing equipment, associates, and resources
• Improve manufacturing processes by identifying and implementing cost reductions, developing reporting tools, and resolving malfunctions within process control points
• Complete daily production plan by scheduling activities, assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, and reporting results on shift production summaries
• Provide manufacturing information to the Management team by compiling, analyzing, and sharing production performance records and data
• Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, production records, and personnel requirements, and implementing changes
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on process parameters, equipment, and resources, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
• Provide ongoing performance review, feedback, and development of staff
• Perform all other duties as assigned

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma with 4+ years of manufacturing experience
• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, or similar role)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work in a controlled or clean room environment requiring special gowning
• Requires physical activity such as standing for long periods of time, walking, and working with hands; Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent‑sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience

Preferred Skills & Background

• Associate’s degree in a science, engineering, or related field with 4+ years of manufacturing experience preferred OR Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, or related field with 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
• Experience with automated manufacturing control systems
• Strong understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) for clinical and commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position in MA is $85,000 – $110,000 Plus Bonus. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
