Department: DevCon
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: UK - Remote
Compensation: £65,000 - £80,000 / year
Description
You will report into our Head of Delivery (Michael) and work closely with in-house experts across Engineering, QHSE, Procurement, Legal and Development.
If you’ve managed renewable energy projects through FID or through Construction (preferably both) then we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the pre-construction phase of the project (following end of the planning & development phase, or following the acquisition of a RTB Asset)
- Lead an internal project team in the run-up to Final Investment Decision (FID), with a sharp focus on programme
- Support planning discharge activities with the development team and engagement with landowners to ensure land-related obligations are met
- Work with the in-house design team to ensure any value engineering opportunities are captured
- Supporting the procurement and legal team throughout tenders and contract negotiations
- Lead any early works package required in advance of main contract signatures (e.g. to start detailed contractor design for long lead-time equipment)
- Develop and own the pre-construction risk register, the master project-schedule and project-budget (what we call the “basics” from which all activities are prioritised)
- Ensure the full project team is aligned on actions, timescales and responsibilities
- Managing the construction phase to safely meet agreed time, quality and budget targets
- Lead by example and ensure our health & safety culture is adopted on all projects
- Manage our construction contracts, including the BESS supplier, BoP contractor, TO, grid-compliance and any other packages of work required for the project
- Deliver all “Client” responsibilities noted within the employer’s requirements and interface matrix of construction contracts. This includes managing variations to planning, meeting our lease commitments and sourcing free-issue equipment and services (e.g. fibre, fiscal metres, RTM provider)
- Ensure key project management documents are prepared to an excellent standard in line with the business reporting calendar
- Ensure the project seamlessly enters commercial operation & close-out contracts
- Manage our internal engineering resource and contractors to develop and implement a commissioning and energisation plan
- Coordinate with our commercial operations team on revenue readiness activities
- Have a clear understanding on how our construction schedules impact on revenue streams (e.g. Capacity Market milestone dates)
- Support procurement and commercial operations with the on-boarding and integration of Asset Management contractors
- Agree (and manage the close-out) of construction defects and settle final accounts with support of the contract manager
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- You have managed at least 2 onshore renewable energy projects through FID or through construction.
- You have excellent practical project leadership skills and take pride in your project documents and reports.
- You are eager to learn and willing to own
- You have strong commercial understanding and experience managing various contract types - experience of managing FIDIC contracts would be an advantage
- You have a thorough understanding of construction safety law and CDM regulation
