Position Summary...
The Senior Manager, Learning & Development, Technical Training leads the strategy, design, and delivery of technical training programs that build workforce capability and support operational excellence. This role partners with business leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to develop scalable learning solutions, competency-based training programs, and workforce development initiatives that drive performance, safety, and business results.
What you'll do...
- Develop and execute the technical learning strategy aligned with business objectives, operational requirements, and workforce capability needs.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of technical training programs, learning pathways, curriculum, and performance support tools across instructor-led, digital, virtual, and hands-on learning formats.
- Establish technical competencies, qualification requirements, and assessment standards to support workforce readiness and performance.
- Partner with business leaders, field operations, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and continuously improve learning solutions.
- Evaluate and leverage learning technologies, delivery methods, and external providers to enhance training effectiveness and scalability.
- Lead learning program deployment, communications, and change management to ensure successful adoption across the business.
- Measure program effectiveness using learning and business performance metrics, driving continuous improvement and operational impact.
- Manage budgets, vendors, and resources while ensuring solutions deliver business value.
- Develop and lead a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and talent development.
- Promote Walmart's values, policies, and commitment to ethics, integrity, and inclusion.
Minimun Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, Engineering, Technical Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading learning, technical training, workforce development, or similar programs.
- Experience developing and implementing training programs for technical or field-based workforces.
- Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong program or project management experience.
- Experience measuring training effectiveness and driving business outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Facilities, HVAC/R, Maintenance, Skilled Trades, Engineering, Construction, or similar technical environments.
- Experience building competency-based training programs, assessments, and certification pathways.
- Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and learning technologies.
- Experience managing external vendors and training providers.
- Relevant certifications in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Project Management, or Skilled Trades.
- Experience working in large, geographically dispersed organizations.
