Reporting to the Team Lead HR Operations, the Senior HR Operations Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate, efficient, and compliant delivery of HR operational services across the employee lifecycle. The role works closely with HR Business Partners, Payroll, Finance, HRIS, and other key stakeholders to maintain data integrity, ensure adherence to SOX controls and legislative requirements, and support operational excellence.
The Senior HR Operations Administrator serves as a subject matter expert for complex HR transactions, provides guidance on policies and processes, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports audit readiness through strong governance and quality control practices. Through proactive stakeholder engagement, reporting, and project participation, the role contributes to an effective, compliant, and high-performing HR Operations function
What you’ll do
You’ll take ownership of work that gives us our competitive edge, including:
Manage and oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle processes in Workday, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to service level agreements.
Act as the escalation point for complex HR Operations transactions, queries, and employee data issues.
Maintain high levels of data integrity within Workday through ongoing audits, validations, reconciliations, and corrective actions.
Prepare, validate, and coordinate payroll inputs and support the resolution of payroll-related queries and discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, SOX controls, and internal governance requirements.
Coordinate audit activities and maintain accurate, complete, and readily accessible audit evidence and documentation.
Monitor service delivery performance, analyse trends, and provide operational reporting and insights to stakeholders.
Build effective working relationships with HR Business Partners, Payroll, Finance, HRIS, Benefits, and other key stakeholders.
Lead and support HR Operations projects, system enhancements, testing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify operational risks, process gaps, and improvement opportunities, driving solutions that enhance efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
Coach and provide guidance to HR Operations Administrators to promote consistency, knowledge sharing, and process excellence.
Perform other HR Operations and administrative duties as required.

What you’ll bring
You’re someone who brings:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Operations Management, or a related field.
4-6 years' experience in HR Operations, HR Administration, Shared Services, or HR Systems environments.
Proven experience managing complex employee lifecycle transactions across the employee journey.
Strong working knowledge of HR systems, including Workday and PaySpace.
Understanding of HR systems governance, data management principles, and integrations between HR, Payroll, Finance, and Benefits platforms, with the ability to assess data impacts, dependencies, and operational risks.
Experience supporting payroll administration, audit activities, compliance processes, and HR reporting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience operating within a controlled, compliance-driven, or SOX-regulated environment would be advantageous.
Sound understanding of HR policies, processes, and applicable employment legislation.

Formal Workday training or certifications
Exposure to HR reporting, audits, or compliance environments
Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookups) for data validation and analysis

Ability to work efficiently and effectively across the business and HR Department
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business
Knowledge of relevant labour legislation in relation to HR administration (BCEA, LRA & SDA)
Ability to prioritize and plan your daily schedule

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
